Vaporeon is my favorite and is an ideal water type for any team.

Sample move list, I would use:
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Acid Armor
Iron Tail (handles ice types, because Ice and Water are neutral) or Dig (handles electric types).

Iron tail doesn´t "handle" ice types, vaporeon´s attack is just low, dig is worse. Batton pass/toxic or haze for netbattle > Dig or iron tail.

Vaporeon's attack is miniscule, so don't even bother with it.

I like it as a passer:

Vaporeon @LEftovers
Bold, Crucial Stats of 420 HP, 165 Speed, 190 Defense, 270-280 SDef
~Acid Armor
~Wish
~Baton Pass
~Surf/Ice Beam

You see, it is slow enough to take the hit, allowing the ally to get a 210+ HP Recovery.

However, the best waters do include Ky00ber and CalmCune. A good assortment of moves, calm mind, decent hp/defenses.

Kingler, with loads of water moves at your disposal, plus the almighty guillotine, coupled with Kinglers all-round good stats. I also like Dewgong, lots of powerful ice attacks and water attacks are good, although the stats on it aren't too good :? .

My ideal water pokemon are Kyogre, Milotic, and Suicune, who are good fighters and defenders respectively, and are hard to defeat when used correctly.

Right now I have three Swamperts on my Saphire game, and I intend on using all of them because I can boot the Elite Four with just the three of them. This is what one of them knows:

Surf
IceBeam
Earthquake
MirrorCoat

I would have to say my Blastoise on my LG because it is level 74, no rare candies, and I use it alot in battles and I have never lost a battle when it was in my party.
