I don't know if this was/has been aired in America, but for all those who don't know what it is...

Torchwood is a spin off of Doctor Who (hence the anagram, torchwood, doctorwho, get it?) whereby it follows the story of one of the doctor's male assistants, Captain Jack Harkness and his new team, Torchwood Three.

This is a place to discuss it and talk about the next series and...stuff!

So...who liked the finale? I was kind of hoping that Bilis would be "The Manager," you know, like how the "Master" was another Time Lord? But a servant to the son of the devil's cool too.

The Obsidian Wolf cheers for making this topic,

Torchwood is ok.

Sometimes violent, sometimes stupid and sometimes great,

but there was one episode that i thought was excellent, the episode the guy dies and he becomes a ghost and finds out why is he a ghost.

I missed the final two episodes of series one,

was it good?

YOu liked that episode? I hated it!!

In the last two episodes, Captain Jack and Tosh accidentally fall through a rip in time and go to 1941. While there, Jack meets a dude called Captain Jack Harkness and we learn that Jack actually stole his name after he found out that he had died. According to Jack, the reald Captain would die the next day.

For that reason, Jack urges him to live life to the full, but doesn't disclose the reason. The real Captain takes his advice and reveals that his gay, has a little dance with Jack, and they kiss (not the nicest sight, I must say, but whatever floats your boat) Then the rift opens again (becuase Owen did it, I'll explain that...) and he goes back to 2006.

During all of that, Gwen was looking around the place that they had vanished (and were there in 1941) and Owen and Ianto were having multiple arguents as to whether or not they should use the rift machine to bring Jack and Tosh back. Ianto says they should look for the equations that Tosh sent through time (leaving notes in pots and leaving them for 60 years.) but Owen wants to open it, despite the risks. In the end, Ianto shoots Owen in the shoulder, though Owen still manages to install the final piece of the Rift Machine, activating it and resulting in Jack and Tosh coming back.

During all this, there was a somewhat odd man, by the name of Bilis Manger. He was seen in the present, and in 1941, but he wasn’t really part of the story.

In the next episode, the gang all see images (Owen sees Diane, Gwen is shown an image of Rhys’ death by Bilis, Tosh sees her dead mum, and Ianto sees Lucy, his Cyberwoman girlfriend.) Bilis is revealed to be able to walk through time “like walking between rooms.”

It turns out that Bilis is actually the one causing these images, and in each one persuades the four main characters (not counting Jack, he doesn’t get an image) to use the Rift Machine to fully open the Rift.

After a rather complex story plot, Gwen brings Rhys into the Torchwood HQ, and locks him in a cell. However, Bilis kills him, and the four characters agree that if they open the Rift, everything will go back to normal: Rhys won’t be dead, Diane (Owen’s girlfriend) will come back, Cyberwoman will be Lisa again, and Tosh…don’t really know why she went along with it.

Jack protests, Owen shoots him in the head, and they open the rift. Jack comes back to life and they all go outside, to find Bilis looking into the sky saying something along the lines of

“The rift is open! Now Abbadon will rise, the son of the great beast that has been imprisoned for all these years!!”

Then this rather large beasty (looks quite like the Devil, the one in the Satan Pit, where the Doctor and Rose are on that planet swirling around a black hole) which would explain why he is the “son of the great beast.”

It’s about the size of Godzilla and goes stamping around Cardiff, and all that are in its shadow drop dead. So, Jack goes after it, and the monster tries to kill Jack by putting its shadow over him, but Jack’s life force is son strong and infinite, that it overloads the beast and everything goes back to normal.

However, Jack remains dead, and everyone tells Gwen to let him go, and shut the little drawer. However, Gwen stays with him for two days, and he wakes up. Then its all a happy ending, with an ominous note from Jack that where the rift has been opened and resealed. Then you hear the noise of the TARDIS and the hand in the tube starts jerking. Then Jack goes off screen, leaving everyone bewildered as to where he went.

The final scene is of the four of them all standing there, and Gwen says “Someone’s taken Jack. We have to get him back.” Or something like that, which goes along with the idea that Torchwood will always be against the Doctor.

Wow, now that’s what I call summing up!

I am hoping for a series 2. It was popular, but with the number of complaints...

My favourite episode was the last one probably, and maybe the "Small Worlds" episode.

Ooh, a Doctor Who spin-off that I don't hate.

Torchwood is in my list of "Awesome TV", right in the section marked "British Sci-Fi", next to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the original Doctor Who.

The ending wasn't awesome, if you ask me. A little too "OMG GIANT DEVIL". I suppose the premise was quite good, a bit like the RP I'm in...

Oh, and for the record, the episode with the Welsh axe-murderers was the best/scariest.
