I quite like {seadra} because it is unique. It's defence is rubbish, luring people into attacking it physically, however, its poison point trait would put them off of that, making them use electric and grass. However, a good Aerail Ace (I'm sure it can learn this) should defeat the grass Pokemon that you see around Kanto and a strong Hyper Beam should obliterate any Electric types. (I'm assuming that we are talking about Kanto here, as I was thinking that things like Electrode and Raichu are easily disposed of. If however, we are talking on a wider basis, then I would definitely go for Ludicolo and Milotic (DRAGON!))

Ahh, sweet Vaporeon...
Anyway, mustn't gp pff topic, another great water type just has to be Lapras! It's the complete opposite to Seadra, and there are a variety of ways to us it. Personally, I don't like the whole Rest - Sleep Talk - Horn Drill - Sheer Cold combo: a bit cheap.
Its HP is good enough, so don't make it 00ber-y. Mine has Bolt Beam, Surf and Confuse Ray. It's so cute and sweet!

Ferlaigatr is the pwn IMO. I am not a huge fan of any other Water types(besides Suicune).

Personally i love {lapras} its one of those pokemon with good HP and decent ofensive and defensive stats.

With a moveset like this it can be very good:

LAPRAS@Leftovers

-confuse ray
-atract
-surf
-ice beam

With the first two moves it can take many extra turns to attack with any of the other ones, wich both get STAB.

I think that {starmie} is the best:

{starmie}
> Ice Beam
> Surf
> Psychic
> Thunderbolt

or

{starmie}
> Toxic
> Dive
> Swagger
> Recover

Note to XCHAOS: Dragonair is not a water type. It's a pure dragon type.

There's only four water pokemon that I really like:
Vaporeon (I'm another Eevee sucker)
Lapras
Milotic
and Kyogre, though I never use it.

I like these lot mainly because of looks, though some say that's not a good way of choosing a team.

May I emphasise once again that stating a Pokemon as your ideal Water type, without explaining why, is actually considered as spam. As such, please justify your choices.

Another water pokemon I like, that I'm using on my Saphire game is Golduck. It has great stats, especially its Sp.Attk, Def, and Sp.Def stats. It has good Speed as well and it learns strong Psychic attacks and its not a Psychic type pokemon.
