That question has been asked many times before.

In the game, Mewtwo has higher stats than Mew in everything except the defenses. However, Mew has the ability to learn every TM and HM.

Personally, I think Mewtwo is more effective, but Mew is also very powerful.

I like to think Mew would be the stronger, because Mewtwo was just created from DNA of Mew, right? Isn't that how it works?

In the game, I'd rather have Mewtwo though. Just personal preference.

Lol this isnt the first time this has been asked.

In gamimg and handheld etc: Mewtwo
Why?: Higher stats except defence, not a Nintendo event so imo I like it more. Also I always win with a Mewtwo on my team. My friend's Mew isnt that special even if it can learn anything.

On films/anime/fanfic/whateverelse: Mew
Mew is very calm and collected, and wiser people win, like wise people always are the heros in those thriller movies with the clues. Mew is uuber over Mewtwo in those circumstances, Mew is smarter.

Mewtwo = Strength Mew = Brains

Pinky and the Brain :)

Well Mewtwo isn't a complete clone, since it looks different from Mew. As such, it is likely that other genes were added or altered, which probably made Mewtwo stronger.

mewtwo, I'd say. Better stats

but mew is still powerful

however I refuse to play against legendaries in competiotive play. You didnt have to work to get them to a high level or status.

I hope you have a better reason for saying such a thing, since legendaries aren't at all like you're saying. Yes, legendaries have the most top places in the max stats list, but it isnt at all easy to level them, it's only because you capture them at such a high lvl (such as Mewtwo at lvl 70). :? Legendaries like Rayquaza hasn't got good stat combinations as well, someone are even forced into being in one single role, making the movesets and tactics and generally everything easy to predict.
I'd also like to ask you something about your idea with the post: why don't you play against legenadaries in competetive play, when it's the same for everyone, because anyone can get a mewtwo or a regice if they want to? :P

To each his own, I suppose.

Seriously though, legendaries are not impossible to take down. I defeat entire teams regularly.

There is a difference between having the tools and using them. If you don't know how to use your team well, then you will lose regardless of who is on it.

I think mew is more powerful, because he can learn every TM and HM in the game. Also, he can learn transform which is actually much better than I thought becasue it also copies stats (excluding hp, so having higher hp means transform is really good).

I tend to think that Mewtwo is more powerful than Mew, as it is faster and pretty much more effective as it can make excellent use of it's huge SA stat. Mew works too, but not as well as Mewtwo IMO.

I prefer using Mewtwo, as it has always seemed better in my games and I have a little more exp. with it than Mew. But I think Mew is the stronger because it can learn any TM/HM to make a moveset that can beat Mewtwo, or any other pokemon for that matter.

-In Red and Blue Version, Mewtwo replaced Hypno or Alakazam as my main psychic pokemon (Because of Recover). Mew is a HM Slave.

I prefer Mew over Mewtwo anyday! The ability to learn any TM/HM clearly means a variety of different strategic movesets and combonations (e.g Sunnyday + Solarbeam/Fireblast). Mewtwo may have the better stats but in my opinion, if you have the right moves, you can overcome pokemon with higher stats.

An HM slave? Why use Mew as an HM slave when you could easily catch a Linoone and Chinchou to do that work for you?

Besides, Mew can learn any move, either by TM/HMs, Tutoring, Leveling, or the Sketch/Smeargle trick.

To be honest, I like Mew and Mewtwo pretty equally. They're both pretty well matched in terms of power.
Mewtwo has an intimidating, authoratative look to him and he's also very well developed in personality. He's very cool.
And Mew is super cute and doesn't need to have a deep personality. It's cute and laughs at inappropriate moments, and thats cute.

Just like me, but do I get any recognition? NO!!! :P

Okay, moving on...

I still think that Mewtwo had his heyday in RBY.

I'll put it to you this way...

The Mewtwo that I transferred over to Crystal got wrecked in the Elite 4.

However, the Mew that I transferred to Crystal almost won singlehandedly.

Surf, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, and Psychic. Uber Cheaposity, but meh, it worked, right?

There's my two cents...
