Just my ideas... I used the 8th gym Dark as well as 4 Elite because that's kinda how they did it in GSC (Clair and Lance). Steel really shouldn't be there, because of Steven/Jasmine but it is because it is a somewhat annoying type with 11 resistances and an immunity.

I think everybody in the Elite 4 should be balanced. I think that'd be cool and make it harder for people that find it normally easy.

But I wish there will be a Ghost gym in the next one.

Maybe

1) Bug Gym - awww.... something like Bugsy. a lot of trees and flowers everywere
2) Normal Gym - yep, normal type pokemon always rule the world^^
3) Water/Grass - you know, pokemon like Ludicolo would have own place on the world.
4) Steel Gym - only Jasmine has had one
5) Ghost/Psychic Gym - needed
6) Ice Gym - only Pryce has had one, we need younger Leader
7) Egg Gym - hehehe
8 ) Dark Gym - finally

I have some new suggestions:

1. Grass (Come on, most of them are rubbish, and fltings pwn them as well as fire remember)
2. Flying
3. Attack
4. Indeterminate (e.g. Banette, Kirlia, Castform etc.)
5. Ghost / Dark
6. Tank
7. Psychic
8. OHKO (smeargle+spore+lock-on+sheer cold, maxed out speed stats)

Elites:
What rubypoke said, all mixed types, that would be more of a challenge, coz this time you can't go "Oh no Lorilei, better bring my jolteon!" lol.

And all gyms pokemon actually have EVs on their pokemon. Is it just me or in the old games enemies had 0 EVs and 0 DVs?

ground/rock/fighting/fire somewhere in a valley near a vulcano
ghost/dark/poison somewhere in a haunted cities dungeons (or an other spooky place)
grass,bug,electric,flying and sudoowoodo somewere in a mythical forest

the champion balanced
somewhere on top of a mountain

lesser gyms
all types basicely
some special things like the get me if you can(I like the idea, not mine so not taking credit ) etc

greater gyms
combinations and maybe some more powerfull versions of the lesser gyms

ilmrik goes and dream on somewhere else

I don't want any more of those elemental gyms! After playing Battle Factory on my Emerald, I want themed gyms! These would be much more challenging and much more interesting than in the case of Quilava owning Bugsy in three turns.

Of course, this is highly unlikely as Nintendo are always trying to widen their customer base, and having things like this would not encourage eight year olds to successfuly complete the game.

also dark pokemon are really weak so they wouldnt make a good last gym

Dark aren't very weak. Umbreon is a tank and a half and tyranitar is a physical sweeping machine.

Then you have absol who is another good physical sweeper. Cacturn can special sweep. And shiftry is a good aid in a 2v2.

I really like that though. But doens't your rival do that kind of thing for you? Unless you end up rivaless like you did in RSE. Then if it was like RSE that gym thought would be a great idea.

Probably we will see some of them in Gyms. I would like to see Leader who would be a trainer of ice type pokemon. Ice is my favourite type and Pryce is not enough for me. I would like to see new, young and handsome trainer who would be really good. I would like to see new bug Gym, because I like bugs and I remember sweet, little Bugsy from S/G/C.
About Elite4, well, I'm not sure but I wouldn't want to meet next boring dark type trainer. We have had two.

Why do you ppl think of types? Why not every gym be multi. No more owning at the first gym but sucking at the second gym anymore. I know that there will be type based gyms but this is just a thought.

i think so the 4th (d/p)generation would resemble the 2nd (GSC) because we all noticed that the 1st(RBY) and 3rd(RSE) generations had similar gyms in similar order

example : in both rby and rse the 1st and 3rd gyms were rock and electric gyms respectively. and so like the 2nd GSC generation the 4th DP generation.they have similar features like the day/night feature,so they should have similar kinda gyms too

so i think this would be the possible order.

i don't think they will be using HOENN Pokemon all over. The gyms will be full of new pokemon.
