Probably one of the most anticipated movies of the year was Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

SPOILERS

The story starts where the last movies left off. Elizabeth (played by the beautiful Keira Knightley) and Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom) are about to get married. But, alas, the happiness wasn't meant to last or even begin. Will and Elizabeth are arrested for helping Jack. Will can save Elizabeth by getting the compass (from the first movie) from Jack and bringing it back. Well, it all goes downhill from there. Secret romances are revealed, pirates fight, and the best is Davy Jones rises. And you get to meet Will's father.

Now, one of the things I just loved about the movie was the cast. You had the original cast from the first movie to the new characters such as Davy Jones. Each actor/ress pulled his or her weight as their character with such passion that you could almost believe they were real. Each of us can relate to one of the characters because of their life-like qualities and flaws.

Another thing that I liked was that it was just a good story. It clears some things up and continues the story even more. They didn't try to overdo it. They just made it for the fun of it.

It wasn't as good as the first but it was good.

Cast: 5/5 Stars
Story: 4/5 Stars
Graphics: 5/5 Stars

Overall:
4.5/5 Stars

LOL.

It was a very entertaining movie, but the plot went nowhere. I don't recommend you see it, but it does set up 3 to be a brilliant movie. Too long, too random, didn't enjoy.

Ya, I liked the movie. It was, alas all movies, too long. As the years go on they get more and more longer :? . I deffinately did not like the ending at all! I cannot wait a whole year to just finish off this movie!@ :o

As stated in many official reviews, the second movie was half the action of the first, but twice the laughter.

Due to the fact that all I remember about the first one was a walking skeleton, I was left dazed and confused at the end of this movie (and a little light-headed from all of those swaying boat scenes).

I'm sure if I had a better memory it would've been good, though.

Whilst not as good as the original, it was entertaining nonetheless.

I felt as though the plot was cast aside somewhat in favour of flashy special effects. The story continually grinds to a halt with long drawn-out fight and chase scenes with no point, the part with the tribal villagers was also completely irrelavent to the rest of the story, why was it in there?

Noticebly more slapstick than the first film, deadmans' chest does at least answer some questions from the first movie, most noteably the fate of Will's father, as well as how Jack became the captain of the Black Pearl. It also ends with a rather exciting and interesting cliffhanger(for those who have not seen it, I shan't reveal anything).

All in all, I would have to give it 8.5 out of 10.

A good film, just a shame it was'nt shorter and more story-focused. Here's hoping they'll learn in time for the third installment.

Exactly.

I say you should see it, as then it keeps the story up so you can see the 3rd.

There are only 3 movies anyway Disney says.

I didnt like Dead Mans Chest's character plots at all. Jack Sparrow wasnt as cunning, weird, but still very funny and great to watch.

Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) was much better in my opinion, except for once bad piece of acting, cant remember where I thought that, she was the best in the film. She has stunning looks and is a stunning actor. She can really make emphasised actions look funny too.

Not much impressed me. The humour did, it was funnier than the first I must say, like the swinging in the ball of bones. :P

The special effects were awsome most of the time as usual. The giant squid 'Cracken' or whatever was good, I liked that, apart from when it ate Jack, very fake looking at one second.

Imho:
Humour : 5/5
Effects : 4/5
Storyline : 2.5/5

My dad loved the first one, he said this one was a waste of money, he said the overpriced popcorn I had was better.

The second movie answers questions, like; "How does the compass pointed to the Pearl?", "What happened to Will's father if he couldn't die under the ocean?", and importently "What happened to all the characters?"

Still, as the movie is now I wouldn't judge it since techincly it isn't complete. For those who saw it you know what I mean.

They most likely saved all the action for the next movie, for when they battle Davy Jones and his Sea Monster Crew. And they introduction of characters new and old (by old I mean the ones who you didn't think would appear) like the man would marked Jack as a pirate long ago, a witch-like woman who gave Jack the compass, the two comic-releaf pirates from the first movie reappear, the dog with the keys, and Norrington not as a Commador but as a mess of a man.

As far as the movie went it was good but as I said before, I will not give a full opinnion untill I see the next movie.

I liken both Pirates of the Carribean films to TimeSplitters 2: Fun, loud, destructive, mindless. Entertaining and funny, but with no real substance. Still though, can't wait for the second one.

And Miasma, what you describe sounds eerily like what happened to me after both films...

Dead man's chest wasn't as good, but it ended in a way you would have never expected, and thus you want to see how it happened in the third movie.
