Okay, how long did it take you to get each (or your fave unlockable) character?
My most recent (Besides Mr. Game and Watch) is Pichu. Matter of fact, I got him about half an hour before this post.
My fave characters are Roy, unlocked 1/21/06 at approx. 10 PM. ^_^
Second favorite is Sheik, but she's a start-off.
I got the game around the 8th of January (this year), but haven't had much time to play it.

It took me about 2 months to get Mr.Game & Watch but I didn't get to play much. I didn't have to do anything to get my favourite character because it was Fox. I got Mr.Game & Watch in November I think.

Flashback to 2002...or whatever year it came out...
Took me 5 months to get to Mr. Game and Watch.
I played a lot of VS. with my friends. Not much 1-player.

Uh, my friend had it before me, but we always played it together and we got everyone except Mewtwo and Game and Watch in one night when I was staying over, and we got the last two the following day. Yes, we WERE actually obsessed at the time and played it from about 4pm until 3am-ish without resetting (lots of VS. battles). Oh, the good old days....
Then Final Fantasy took over my life O.O

Sheik is male according to the dialect in ocarina of time.

And yet, the dialogue also states that Sheikah are shadow women.
Anyway, I forgot to state it took me 7hours of gameplay to get Pichu. Hoorah.

SSBM Trophy for Sheik wrote: Using a variation of the name of the ancient Sheikah tribe, she appears before Link...It's believed that she's not just a quick-change artist...
Sheik is nimble and has gorgeous moves, but she lacks a strong knockout attack...
...when playing as Sheik is to let her flow from one...damages foes around her.
There you go, it's on all three Sheik trophies.
EDIT: Also, when Sheik goes flying off the top of the screen, could a guy scream like that? I think not.

Actually, guys can scream like that. Most guys in my class can scream louder than the girls.
Back on topic, I need to get 245 more KO's to get the ingame scoreboard thingy. I think I need 5000 Ko's to get it.

Took me 1-2 weeks to get all the characters I have all the levels except 1 or 2 I think. ^_^
My favourite characters are Marth, Sheik/Zelda and Captain Falcon.
Note: Zelda is better than Sheik, Sheiks B attacks SUCK and Zelda teleports twice as far. But Sheiks A attacks are fast but Zeldas smash attack is uuber powerful.

Sorry, I always thought it was what Princess Ruto said.
Something like:
"That hero Sheik came and rescued me from under the ice but he couldn't help the others"

Okay. Stop talking about Shiek's gender, however interesting it may be, and lets discuss the point of the thread. Its beginning to get weird. In OOT, Shiek is male. In SSBM, Shiek...isnt. KK?
Time to get Roy; About 3 days.

Well actually sorry to stop you little moment but Shiek has always been a girl and will. From the Legend of Zelda Ocarina she was a girl the whole time and they based her from that game.So no she was never a guy she is a woman, just putting that out there.I also agree with Gardevoir~ when she says to cut this out,I'm not trying to backseat mod(sorry if I'am) but let's try and stay on Topic.

Okies, better now ^_^ I think.
I found a *relatively* quick way to get the KO's ya need. Enter a VS match, but before you pick your character, pick three CPU people. My suggestion is two lightweights and a heavyweight, like Kirby, Purin, and Bowser, with Kirb and Purin at lvl 1 and Bowz at 9. Then pick your person, and enter the 99 stock battle. It takes about a half-hour.

Purin is Jigglypuff; and if your going to to say their Japanese names Gardy~, you might as well say Koopa instead of Bowser. :/
Also, to get KOs quicker, put your Handicap on 9 and theirs on 1.

I say Bowser and Purin. Jigglypuff's a kinda...well...Look at it's pre-evos and evo. I like Purin better.

Me? That was Gardy1313, though I do say Purin, lolz.
*announcer voice* KOOPA!
To get KOs quicker, have more than one controller and make "your" character commit suicide. It works.

I've been playing Melee for about 3 and 1/4 years now, and I've gotten pretty darn good. I'll list the characters I use in order of preference and use on a ten scale skill level.
1. Mario
2. Mewtwo
3. Kirby
4.Everyone Else
5. -
6. -
7. -
8. -
9. -
10. -
When playing with my friends, I always change my character between rounds, because I'm too good with Mario. But the problem is I'm pretty good with just about every character. Rarely do my friends win. I feel sorry for 'em sometimes, but I just can't help it, eh?
I'm sure maybe some of you might give me a good fight. I think a fight against Gardy1313 would be interesting. 8)
I'll post again soon with all my times for unlocking things/occouring events.
