Does anyone else think that the Type Strengths & Weaknesses need to be altered a bit for Generation #4?
I would've used PsyPok

I wasn't perfectly happy with how they set up the nattle stats so I created my own.

It seems like water should be weak against ice, because ice freezes water and so on.

well, flying should be weak/strong against fire
acid corrodes metals (according to science)
dark moves shuold be s.eff on ice (crunch)

Logical type changes:
Make Fire-types take normal damage from Ice attacks; I believe this was the case in RBY and then they changed it post-GSC. Think about it... ice melts into water and which therefore should weaken the fire.
On that note, make Ice attacks strong against Rock-types. It's another logical change backed up by science... water seeps into rock, freezes, and SPLITS the rock.
Fighters should be weak to Poison attacks. Poison RESISTS Fighting attacks in the first place, and Poison attacks are only SA against Grass. Again, some balance is needed, and Fighting is one of the few types that makes sense being weak to Poison.
Speaking of Fighters, I used to bitch about them being SA against Rock-types. But THAT makes sense; Karate masters should be able to break rocks. However, the Steel thing is kind of iffy with me...
Steel Pokemon should be weak to electricity. If Water Pokemon are weak to electricity because they conduct it, steel conducts electricity just as much as water in real life.
I'm kind of questionable about Fire attacks not being very effective against Rock... if the temperature is high enough, and some Fire Pokemon are described as being able to produce VERY high temperatures, shouldn't they be able to MELT the rocks?

Yay for my first Topic being Popular...I hope. I did forget one thing in the Original Post: would you like to see any attributes changed?
By that, I mean, are they still Physical or Special? I'd personally want Poison & Ghost to go Special.

It might've been more helpful if you'd also told us what Types you'd changed...anyhow...
I do like how Bug Moves have less "Not Very Effective" match-ups, since Bug Pok

Its true that some types would most likely be a lot stronger than others but thats pretty much reality isn't it?
"And what's up with Poison being Super-Effective against Psychic & Grass...which are in turn both Super-Effective against Posion?"
I don't see why that should be a problem, if Ground and Rock would be both ineffective towards each other, why shouldn't Poison and Psychic and Grass all be super effective to each other.
I might create another battlechart but with lots of question marks on what the effectiveness should be as well as certain constants; eg Fire is Sup Eff against Grass, Grass is Sup Eff against Water and Water is Sup Eff against Fire.

Is it just me or did special attacks suddenly amplify to highs and lows? It seems to me that now every move you have will either be super effective or too weak vs. an opposing pokemon, whilst in the first few generations I liked that there were a lot more 'normal damaging' attacks.
I think it rely's less on strategy and more on your Pokemon choice now.

Here is my revised idea for how the Battlechart should be set out.
I bet this will stir up some controversy*hehe*

<font color=ACEACE>The only thing that should be changed is that Dragon is super effective on something other than Dragon.

More like mass confusion... no offense to you or anything, but I don't see the logic or science in about 90% of that chart, specifically the following:
Normal being super effective against Electric?
Fighting being super effective against Water but not very effective again Dark (or Dragon)?
Poison being super effective against Fire, Ground and Ghost but not GRASS??
Ground being super effective against Water?
Bug being super effective against DRAGON???
Rock not being very effective again Psychic or Ice?
Ghost not being very effective against Fighting but super effective against Flying and Electric?
Steel being super effective against Grass and Dragon?
Fire being super effective against Ground and Flying?
Water NOT being very effective to Ground?
Grass being strong against Bug?
Electric being super effective against Normal, Fighting and GHOST?
Ice being weak against Ground but strong against Fire?
Dark being weak against Dragon?
Psychic beating Psychic?
Dragon not being Ghost?
Seriously, all the stuff I mentioned above either seems completely random (why would a ghost be weakened by electricity?), against the rules of science (fire scorchs the earth for little effect, water erodes ground, venom kills plants), or against the rules of logic (bugs eat plants).

It is true that not all the spots I filled in (or not filled in) would would be logical, I would have to say that about half my choices were to try and balance the different types, otherwise some types would end up as been too powerful while some would be very weak indeed.
Ghost would logically be immune to the effects of almost every type except for other Ghosts and maybe Psychics.
Poison would be effective against every type except Ghost, Rock and Steel.
While water could damage rock if you had enough of it over time, Water would be ineffective against Rock, I mean, if you were facing a large rock rolling at you, what would you do to stop it, squirt at it with a fire hose? It would take a lot of high pressure water and a small enough rock to be of any real threat.
Steel would be strong against most types except for Steel, Fire and Electricity.
Flying would be weak against most types except for Grass, Flying and Bugs.
Bugs would be weak against everything except against Grass and other Bugs.
Fire would be strong against most things but Ghosts, Rocks and Water.

I agree with psycho_freak on this one. If Dragons are supposed to be all powerful (Elite Four Lance), then why are they only super-effective against Dragon?

I think Dragons were considered powerful since they have good stats and they have resistance's to starter's STAB (Water, Grass, Fire and Eletric).

I guess Dragons are considered powerful due to their Resistance to the more "Common" Types...plus, only two Types are "Super Effective" against them.

Its the High Stats and HP and powerful attacks are what makes Dragons powerful, not its effectiveness against types.

If all its stats were too high, it would be a legendary Pokemon.

One thing I don't get is why Ghosts aren't part of the "Special" Stat.
That's quite strange.

u think oh my rock pokemon will do cause its never been super effective before and then theyll use ice beam and kill u and ud be like oh sad face

Yeah I didn't like that too, I always thought Dark and Ghost should be switched, that way Gengar and Absol could get better attacks.
