I'm not trying to show off. Honestly, but I defeated him with a Lv. 76 Dargonite and a Lv. 77 Nidoking.
Whats worse is for some reason, I didn't get my prize for beating him: A free Jhoto starter!

That's because you quit Mt. Battle or changed you're pokemon. Start again (Yes, from area 1), and don't quit, take any breaks or switch your party. Then you will get your starter.
(And yes, he is pathetic, as is everyone in the game; Because nintendo aim the game at little kids.)

No breaks as in you cant save w/o changing your party, quit (the game, not the challenge) and come back later when you have time? *screams in high-pitched voice* Me curious, I got Ho-oh on Colosseum without quitting the challenge, but I took a vast amount of breaks...

I think you can save and switch the Gamecube's power off, but you can't quit Mt. Battle and then continue at an area higher than 1. If you do quit, you'll have to start from area 1.
Nor can you switch the contents of your team, you must stick with the pokemon you had at the starting area.
Hope it was clearer this time.
