Umm, I need a bit of advice. Do you need a national dex for pokemon to show up when you have a GBA cartridge in? I have my emerald cartridge in and NO Gengars are showing up in the "Purple Painting Room" and NO pinco's are showing up in Eterna Forest. Please answer my question if you have a kind soul made of juicy Fruit!

Are you in some area that is a "Eye Room" in the Old Chateau? (while Emerald is inserted before you turn on the DS). Gengar rarely appears, yes "Rare" not uncommon or common category.
about Pineco, it will appear at route 229 with Emerald inserted into the DS. I think it's faster to able to see Pineco than in other areas although it's in "Uncommon" category (Eterna Forest / 203 / 204)

If not then you won't get very far...

You need the national dex for the insertion stuff to work.

tyvm, I was wondering that, it doesnt say it anywhere. Well, all that looking got my Luxio up 5 levels and Prinplup up 4 levels and Murkrow up 2 levels.
