okay so i know the bad egg is an egg that hackers get, and it messes up their game or whatever. but the other day, my brother was using his action replay on platinum, and he had on a cheat so he could catch trainers pokemon. he caught a trainers rypherior, and it sad "rypherior caught transfered to box one. would you like to give a nickname to BAD EGG" so its not an egg that he has, its a pokemon whose name is bad egg. does anyone know if this could still harm his game?

'BAD EGG's can be harmful. I saw a YouTube video where someone was showing his pokemon in his PC on Ruby, they had regular little sprites, but when he put the pointer over them, it showed a pick of an egg anc it said BAD EGG. He showed this a few times without saving his games, then it totally erased his save data. If I were you, I'd release it, as I think all bad eggs are bad.

It's clarly not an egg, so I'm pretty sure it's not gonna currupt your save game file. Could just be whoever wrote the codes sense of humor.

Part of the game thinks it's an egg, though. I think, according to the game, anything that you shouldn't be able to catch is called BAD EGG even if it's not an egg, so it sows it as an egg when you look at its stats or pic or whatever. Super-cheat pokemon like that actually can mess up your game, so I suggest yo do something with it.

A bad egg is NOT an egg in any way. It's the Hexadecimal identifier that's different, Normal eggs have a different code to Bad eggs. They can really mess up the games. I guess that's what people get when they mess around too much with ARs :s

Yeah. That's weird, I wonder why the code is different. I'm glad I'm not a super-cheater, I just get items like Master Balls, Max Potions, etc. to give me a boost, I do't even like a lot of Rare Candys. But, if BAD EGG is just its name, it shouldn't be so bad, fight and see how it does.

Question: if you fight an in-game trainer, si there a chance he may have Shiny pokemon?

I don't really think so, not unless it's in the Trainer Tower of FireRed/LeafGreen (I think there are a few pokemon which are always shiny there, because I saw it several times).

Anyway, the Bad egg is dangerous, if anyone ever gets it, try releasing it immediately.

In conclusion, after some consultation with Hyperbole, we think that your caught trainer's pokemon should be fine, even though it's not legit, but if it glitches up for some reason, release it immediately. That pretty much answers your question, right?
