Hariyama should be fine to beat him. Get him a good Fighting-type move, and bring revives.

I don't see any reason in the Walkthrough why you wouldn't be able to.
Oh, and a good plan for Norman; if you teach Protect/Detect to a pokemon (your Hariyama, for instance), and then use it every other turn, Slaking won't be able to hit you, thanks to Truant.

If you use a ghost Pokemon like Shedninja, his Pokemon won't even be able to harm you.

i believe to they learn it all naturally. also (it can be hard) try to level up your hariyama to lvl40 (i think) so it can get belly drum. it takes a while to set up but it can make quick work of norman, have hariyama as your leadoff:
protect the first turn
slaking misses
use belly drum
slaking traunt
protect again
slaking misses
vital throw slaking into oblivion

I have a Pelipper with protect.. It helped with bunch of flannery's tac annoying overheat... I guess I would train it up for Norman too...
(but I alrely I feel lazy to even play gameboy.. so much work!)

Yes battling with Norman is really hard and annoying because there is no trainer between Flannery and Norman. However have you tried to breed some pokemon? Or, trade a pokemon with your friend, so you could beat him easily? If you are too lazy, you could train some s .... Steel/rock is absolutely win against normal.

^ i remember have a larion (or whatever its called) and it phailed to slaking. sure, they resist facade like no tomorrow, but they dont resist faint attack very well (maybe bc dark was special are something in RSE?).
also, the aron family doesnt learn many [good] attacks to rip apart slaking either (iron tail anyone lol)
i dont think pelipper is gonna do much (again, no good attacks)

It was...but I wouldn't expect Slaking to do that much damage with a special attack, to overcome the NVE. Did you have the same level?

This is off-topic..
but I feel like posting new stuff in my own thread
What kind of level up movesets PLUS breed Crunch and Screech would you give a Sceptile that is used for Gyms and Elite 4?
I am thinking of deleting screech for agility...
what do you think?
buff? or debuff?

almost always you should choose buff > debuff. Debuff only hurts 1 opponent, allowing them to switch, while a buff lasts even after you manage to kill the opponent.

I would use Blazeiken and have a Sableye to prevent normal and fighting attacks doing any damage. Plus it can learn Faint Attack.
