okay, so i wanted another beldum to start over, but i have a Metang now. if i breed it with a ditto, will i get a metang or a beldum?

and if it is a metang, how do i get a beldum?

you always get the lowest evolved form, unless you're breeding something like Marill. Then the female must hold a certain item to get the baby pokemon Azurill, or you get Marill.

The parent {marill} or {azumarill} has to be holding Sea Incense to get an {azurill} egg.
And also, with {wobbuffet} the parent has to be holding Lax Incense to lay a {wynaut} egg.

Those are the only two Pokemon that give birth to evolved forms, if they aren't holding the right items. Any other breeding Pokemon will lay an egg containing the lowest evolutionary stage for its species.
