my wailmer keeps coming back when i release it. whats up with that?

hahaha!! this happened to me with a tentacool. it means that your wailmer must know an HM (probably surf, dive, or waterfall) which is not known by any of your other pokemon. this is to make sure that (for example) you dont go to an island and throw away all the pokemon who know surf and then get stuck. if you really want to get rid of your wailmer, teach the HM to someone else, and then it will go. did it say something like "it was worried about you"?

Don't the pokemon refuse to be released if they are at max happiness also?

cuddles answer seems most reasonable as i hadn't taught any other pokemon surf. and yes it was "worried about me". get this, i just caught it.

it sounds like a glitch to me since i once have released a pokemon that only knew hm moves and no one else did
