Post subject:  STAT EXP?

I come here in peace from the hoenn board...

and I noticed in the psylab about how EVs (Effort Values) are gained and such, but it mentioned STAT EXP for the Johto generation, and it said that it was alot easier in Johto than in Hoenn.

What is STAT EXP?
How do I get it?
How does it affect my stats?

If you need to post a website that can help better than you can, by all means do so. My team is in the rating thread, so please give suggestions.

-Thanx.

If I'm not wrong, Stat Exp is similar to EVs, but just that you can max out your "EVs" in every stat. Which means that you don't really have to plan what to battle, all you have to do is to battle a variety of Pokemon as you level up and all your stats should be maxed out.

Correct me if I'm wrong though, and feel free to add more details.

So, pretty much the stats are only based on DVs, not on EVs and stuff. cool.

So, what about rare-candying. If i just rarecandy up to level 100, do i still get the stat exp?

Ahh, here's where so many trainers go wrong.

Yes, you do get stat Exp with Rare Candies, however this is a very sharp double edged sword because the value of the stats goes down in a big way.

Let's make an example. Now, I'm just making these numbers up, so they're not really the stat value you'll get (if they are, let me know so that I can either play the lottery or open my own psychic hotline ).

Say you have a level 40 Charizard with an Attack stat of 156. Now let's imagine that you bring it up to level 50 through battles and achieve a final Attack stat of 180.

If you take that same Charizard and instead Rare Candy it from level 40-50, you'll only get an Attack stat of, oh, let's say 168.

So...to review: A coma-inducing dose of Rare Candies, BAD. Hard work, GOOD.

Makes sense?

One time in gold I had a spinarak, and I though "I will just use the cloning the rare candies trick and have a supertough pokemon!"wrong... My ariados was getting beaten by level 30 pokemon when it was 40 (yes, I was 8 and it did have a good moveset) I have never used a rare candy again.

Wouldn't the box triock fix it?

What exactly is the Box Trick? Do you mean the cloning trick?

No. Inserting it into the pc, annd then the game fixes the stats. Has nothing to do with cloning.

A good moveset isn't all there is to battling, you know. You might simply have been making bad battle decisions, or the level 30 Pokemon nailed you with type advantages. A difference of 10 levels is insignificant given the right battling skills.

Anyway, as for your query about the Box Trick, I'm not sure if it existed in GSC, so that might or might not work.
