Post subject:  Silver Not Saving

Hey, I'm new around here, just thought it would be a good place to ask this question.

When I save a game in Silver, everything is fine until I restart and only have the option to start a new game. On the rare occasion it does save, it comes up with save file corrupted. I make sure the game is saved before switching off. I fear it may be the game screwing up, what do you guys think?

Your file is corrupted, sorry to say. The same thing happened to my Gold version about 5 months ago, and it's not been able to save since.

The internal battery's most likely the cause, as Silver versions are getting older, and the battery's probably dead/weak. Maybe someone can find a way to fix it... meh. :P

Oh, and welcome to Psypoke btw :)

The internal battery in the Game Boy? Or the actual game? (If it has one :S)

And thanks :D

The actual game. If you take apart a game (Or look through the Crystal version's clear-ish shell), you'll see the battery.

You're welcome :P

Ahh I see, I'll take a look. You think it could be replaced?

Uh, personally, I don't know. It looks to me like a regular watch battery, but I could be wrong. If it is just a regular watch battery, it might be able to be replaced. I'll go take apart my Gold version and check.

Hopefully it's a watch battery, I have a few laying around. Thanks for the advice! I'll tell you if it works.

Please do, as I can't get my Gold version open. I think I need a special screwdriver for it... either that or my dad can open it for me (When he wakes up).

Rofl.

Its not a watch battery, it is a special kind of battery. You have to have some mad 1337 hax skills to fix that without ruining it, which is why I've never tried to fix my ruby version.

First, the battery is sottered in. You need a sottering iron to repair it. Second, I've not got the slightest clue what a GSC battery looks like, but I'm sure its not much different from RSE batteries. Believe me, those aren't watch batteries. Its some japanese (lolfail) battery that will die anyway. I know it sucks that you can't play it anymore, but I suggest you just play the Advance games. They don't save to a battery, they save to a chip which is much more realiable.

I'm old school, I don't have an advance. If it's messed up then theres no harm at least trying to repair eh? If worst comes to worst I'll stick with Yellow and Blue.
