Screenshots from Pokemon Sunday.

I'm not pleased that the remakes have DPP-style graphics. At ALL. Jerky 2.5D graphics for the lose. Chikorita is following the main player. I wonder how long into the game that will last? I honestly can't see them pulling a Pikachu-in-Yellow on us.

Updated Sugimori art of the Generation II Pokemon. For. The. Freaking. Win. All three of the starters look adorable. This will be the best thing about these games, for me, because I love the Sugimori art and have been wanting new art for the Johto Pokemon since FRLG was made.

(Pictures taken from "lissiechan" and "CactuarJoe" on Photobucket as well as an unknown Livejournal user.)

Cyndaquil is so cute 8D

I hope our Pokemon can follow us around like in the screenshot, like they do in Amity Square but all the time :D

OMG LOOK AT THOSE JAPANESEE PEOPLE IN THE LOWER RIGHT OF THE FIRST PICTURE!

also all three of them are cute and adorable and <3 :)

Based on the size of the house and Lab and what I remember them being in Gold, I'm guessing that the towns aren't going to be much bigger, if at all, which is irritating :(

lol wut

because I know I prefer the stale colors and fuzzy NPCs of the original GSC.

Funny, I don't see where I said or implied that. I just said that I don't like DDP's overworld graphics, which are badly done 2.5D. ¯(º_o)/¯

Heh..cool. The trainer is cool, too. Too bad there were no major revelations. Such as Kanto or something, and I was hoping they would show Lugia or Ho-Oh. Ah, it brings up memories. I'm somewhat disappointed it looks really similar to DPP. I was hoping for something with different graphics like FR/LG graphics so it looked like GSC in color. But,YAY! :D

PS FireStarter Royals rock!!!

Personally I have no mind of them using the same level graphics, just so long as they don't copypasta all the trees buildings, and NPCs from the DPPt games.

Well yes that'd be terrible.

Hopefully your starter pokemon will not follow you around permanently. I got enough of that in yellow. If it does though, could it be more in depth? I am left to think of one of the earlier final fantasies where your sprite would depict the class of the first character in your roster. I'm not sure what I would think if something similar were to be implemented (except pertaining to the pokemon following you, though). Of course, the Chikorita pictured following the player could just be for the purpose of a short beginning scene, but we'll see.

The new art is also very nice looking, and I'll look forward to seeing the changes in the rest of the generation II pokemon.

That's funny, Elm's lab looks like a house...

possible storyline change?

And in the bottom left of the second screenshot, there is what looks like a pokemon's tail on the house... hmmmmm...

I personally like the DPP graphics so that's a plus for me. Totodile also looks much cuter now!

I totally agree here. However, if they do keep it around, it better be able to evolve and the sprite better change too. If it can't evolve... :censored: .

I don't think that's a Pokemon tail. What it is, however, I don't know.

yea, I just saw more screenies online. it's like a wind-thingy. you know? still, it's intriguing because it means new graphics, not just a rehash of DPP.

At the right of Elms lab you can see the underground air thingies... will there be a Johto underground ?? or maybe even a Kanto one ?

EDIT:

Notice the wind.

Wow. I love everything about these remakes that has been published/announced so far. The titles, both the gold and silver text styles, the new graphics, and, specially, the new Sugimori art. I mean, look at Totodile! He wants to give you a hug! ^_^

Although it is thought to be released in Japan around November 21st, which will be the 10th anniversary of the release of the original Gold and Silver.

The U.S. usually gets pkmn games 6 months after Japan, and Japan gets HS/SS in the Fall of 2009, so U.S. people here will get it around Spring 2010, and Europe a little later.

Oh. I meant that we didn't know for sure. I didn't know that pattern either, because I don't usually pay attention to these things.

I hope that doesn't apply to the US release... October 15, 2010 is a ways off.

Bulbapedia has scans of the GHSS feature in today's Corocoro magazine.

Kris/the girl from Crystal is out as the main female character, which is pretty damn weird. Also, 23 new Sugimori pictures for the Generation II Pokemon are revealed! After factoring in Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile and the 20ish Pokemon that updated Sugimori art in FRLG, we're a little halfway to having new art for all of the Johto Pokemon.
