Post subject:  sharking dvs

The psypoke gameshark index for g/s used the following codes for modifying dvs (on the first pokemon):

01yy3fda
01yy40da

it doesnt state however what the yy quantifier does, exactly.
i found the same code on a lot of other sites and one said that each "y" stands for a gene that modifies a stat dv. the first being attack, the second defense, the third speed, and the fourth special.
Another site states that the first code is the "genetic hi" or maximum dv and the second code is the "genetic lo" or minimum dv.
The same site also stated that to make a pokemon female, u would only need to input the value "3F" in the first code, causing a decrease in attack, which also seems to validate the first website's notion that each y is a value for each of the 4 stat dvs...which would also mean female pokemon have a disadvantage in attack stat??

im a bit confused and am wondering if any shark pro could clear it up...
thx and sry for the long post

I'm guessing "yy" is where you sub in what you want the DV to be, which I'm pretty sure it's between 00 and 15 in GSC. 15 for max stat growth. If all DVs are 10, it becomes Shiny.

the idea sounds plausible, but there are actually 4 dvs right?
attack, defense, speed, special (attack&defense)

if each yy goes from 00 to 15, then the two codes would only provide dv modifiers for 2 dvs, but the fact that there are 4 dv values to deal with kinda scraps that idea.

wat i thought originally was that each y value corresponds to 1 dv value.
the first code modifying attack and defense value (first y is attack and second y is defense) while the second code modifies speed and special.
the 0-15 dv value range would make sense if u go from 0-F for each y value u change. 0 being 0, A being 10, and F being 15, which would explain why putting FF in both codes would result in max stats (15 value in each stat).

im still doubting my findings, however, because when the stats are maxed out it turns into a male. so now im confused...
this morning i got hold of a female eevee, maxed out its dvs and it turned into a male...wierd aint it?

is the only way to get a female pokemon by weakening its dv values? are female pokemon simplier weaker than male ones?

Well I think female can only have a Attack of something like 9. So when you max it out it becomes a male, I remember trying codes like this and I couldn't get them to work. I was trying to max the DVs on one of my legal pokemon.

k i just figured it out :D
u were right RL that female attack dv has to be weaker but there IS a way to shark a female pokemon with MAX DVs on every stat.

for a female pokemon, u only have to modify its attack dv.
soooo....change the attack dv to a 1 and its a female....

Codes:
011F3FDA
01FF40DA

as u can c...the yy values in the codes each stand for a dv value. therefore, changing the first y in the first code to a 1 makes the attack dv a 1 and successfully attaining a female pokemon.

but u dont want a lower attack u say?
well all u have to then is first max out all of the pokemon's stats by inputing FF in both codes, hence:

01FF3FDA
01FF40DA

and then either level it up or put it in a box and withdraw it to instantly get max stats. then follow the above instructions for turning it female...
if u dont level the pokemon up or put it in a box....the pokemon will retain all the stats as a MAXED OUT dv pokemon but will be female.

the same trick can be worked to get any Hidden Power u want, without having to sacrifice stat points from ur pokemon!
