If I was a eevee, I wouldn't like to evolve into THIS...
Can you explain me how ribbons and scarfs can be organic!? We see this kind of things alot since Gen 4...
And a Normal evolution would actually... be really useless.

For once, I will agree with a Purist idea.

Ninfia is amazing. She's one of my favorite XY Pokemon so far and I like her more than Glaceon, Jolteon and probably Umbreon and Leafeon. Haters gonna hate. ^_^

Can you explain to me how horses can be on fire naturally? We've see these kind of fantasical things a lot since the beginning of Pokemon...

Even specific to the example you used, Pokemon with ribbons and stuff as part of their body were present before Gen 4 too; look at Jirachi. Look at Suicune.

Finally at least one person agrees with me...

Anyway...
My top 3 Eeveelutions pokemon so far are:
1. Tie between Jolteon and Glaceon
2. Vaporeon
3. Ninfia (Ninfeon?)

So NINFIA has made the list.

I think Frost tries to annoy the hell out of me so he will have an excuse to ban me :D .
C'mon. Ninfia isn't even that cute. There are tons of Pokemon with a higher cuteness factor than it. Not to remention that we don't need even more Eeveelutions...

I don't understand this bows + ribbons = flying type logic. Can anyone explain?

I think this came about of the "fairy idea". Fairy's have wings and fly around, hence flying type. Still think Normal is the most likely type.

But the way ribbons flow through the air. When it comes to Gymnastic ribbon in the Olympics they use a very thin ribbon so it can be aerodynamic. Birds and other flying creatures are very sleek and thing so to be able to fly and glide easily. Those ribbons (although not very thin) give some the idea of a flying type. Hence why people think a flying type. (Well that's just me. It might just be a hunch when it comes to everybody else.

That makes sense... I guess. It still doesn't explain the bows.

Think about {delcatty} it will most likely be a normal type.
~For some reasons, steel type crossed my mind, but I doubt it.

I think it could be Normal or Dragon. Maybe Flying but everything else would on paper be out of the picture. However, people have been wrong before in guessing certain types, like when Torchic's line was first revealed, people may have guessed Fire/Flying instead of Fire and Fire/Fighting.

The English name was just revealed to be Sylveon.
Now what is sylv from?

EDIT: I think it's from either Sylph or Sylvan. A sylph is "an invisible spirit of the air". Sylvan means "relating to woods".

So it will be flying...

Possibly. But I'm still not sure. Chances favor flying, though.
Sylvan means something like 'forest dweller' I think. This would normally suggest Bug or Grass, but now...

Post subject:  Re: Ninfia

There is no way that thing can be a bug type. It has no features that would suggest it.

My top two types for it is Still Normal or flying.

I think that it's pretty safe to say that a fairy theme was used for Sylveon. Its French name is Nymphali , so there's more proof.

It's the lightest eeveelution so far, which could be indicative of a flying type (lighter = easier for flying)

Someone on the Beach said that all these ribbons remind him of a kite. Could it be like that?

Hmm...Given that, it looks like Flying will be its typing. Well probably more like Normal/Flying. Unless Nintendo throws us a curveball and makes ANOTHER pure flying type (the other being tornadus).

Extra: Sylph is an air sprite. Plus, Eeveelutions are always monotype.
So welcome the second pure flyer (I guess).

The German name is Feelinara. Fee means fairy but I don't know about the rest.
Sylviidae is a family of passerine birds and is another possible name origin.

Post subject:  Re: Sylveon

With the name referencing sylphs, I'd go with Flying, Ghost, maybe Dragon with a little stretch. The picture really strikes me as normal though, I could see them going with the female only level up, or maybe to fight the whole 12.5% female rate, this one will evolve into only female providing us with the super baby maker.

And then of course it ends up being poison..... O_o you never know. HAHA.

Only reason I don't want it to be flying is that it looks nothing like it should be a flying type, at least if it had feathers or wings I'd go with the idea, but it just doesn't have anything resembling flying, especially as a quadruped. Granted same argument goes with it has no ghost or dragon like appearances either. It really only looks like a normal type unfortunately, granted I'll still use it. Love them eevees.

It might just be me, but it seems Sylveon has much more pronounced fangs than any other eevolution, which is characteristic of dragons.

At first I has hoping for Fighting-type (The ribbons remind me of Meinshao.) But Dragon now seems most likely to me.

i think they mean the connection between that fact thay kites use ribbons and bow to fly.

Fangs are pretty common in an animal of that nature, but I can see the logic of dragon, but at the same time then it could be ghost as well as a vampire like eevee.

I'm sticking with Flying. I only hope they will not make it a new type. That would be terrible.
