Surely anyone who has visited the Gold, SIlver and Crystal forum has read about people taking apart their games, replacing the battery and fixing their games, just like new. But has anyone ever noticed that the internal batteries in Red Blue and Yellow are different than in Gold, Silver and Crystal? Looking at the inside of a metallic series game, you can see that the battery type is specified as CR2025. When I tried to fix my friend's Yellow Version, I took the game apart to find that the battery was identified as a CR1616! Are the two kinds of batteries interchangeable? It would make my life much easier, as I have plenty of CR2025 batteries, yet no CR1616. If there is no difference between the batteries I would readily replace it, but if the newer kinds of batteries doesn't work with Yellow Version, I would rather not rip the game apart. Please help, Thanks!

First of all, what do you mean by fixing it? RBY didn't have the internal batteries keeping time, and thus shouldn't have the same problem as GSC did (and to a lesser extent, RSE too). Why are you taking the game apart to begin with?

As to the batteries, if they are the same size they might be interchangeable, but I am not an expert on that.

Whatever ends up happening, be careful! Good luck.

AEPMT ;) 8-)

By "fixing it", I am talking about the battery which allows the game file to save, and be resumed when the game is turned back on. I am assuming that these batteries eventually die over time, especially if said copy of Red Blue or Yellow has the original battery, which would be over ten years old by now. I am aware that Red Blue and Yellow do not keep time, but don't they have the same problem as the Mettalic series of not saving? e.i. when the start menu says nothing but New Game and Options every time you turn it off and then back on... Please clarify if possible.

All light flaming aside, you don't need to fix RBY games. I have Blue and the only time it ever had a problem was when I overheated my GBC and it screwed with the game. I've had Blue ever since it came out, so... Don't take it apart!

P.S.: This was a horrible waste of my 200th post. Just thought I should let you know.
