I want to see who can get the highest score in the Bug catching contest
since the annoncer reads your score at the end thats what you should use.

Very painful scoring here...glad I waited for a Pinsir or Scyther & caught it with all it's HPs without even spending a 2nd turn or this would have turned out horribly...

but I don't think status affects your score, as I got the 366 score with a paralyzed Pinsir.

Oh...didn't know that & hopefully I participate tomorrow & do this again but with Scyther instead though...Never happened sadly...

Very painful scoring here as well & I mean especially since someone got a Scyther for 2nd place again I mean where could it possibly have been today, & seems like Illumise & Volbeat are Saturday's Pinsir & Scyther post National Dex...meh, whatever...got the highest score possible again...

This time I actually caught a better pokemon, but let it go when I decided hey, I want a damn Nincada so...after that I saw a Dustox & some more Volbeat but decided not to catch either of then though I should have caught Dustox since I didn't catch one yet in the game...anyway, eventually I ran into various Pinsir & a Scyther all at LV27 & I only tried to catch Scyther but no luck doing so at full health & sleep status only made it worse so...after this I encounterd a second Nincada finally & it was at LV31 not LV26 like the one I had caught first...so I caught it & contest over right after the battle & I won...enough said...

The biggest factor in calculating score is remaining HP which is why I alway try to catch them at full heath and paraylis(makes catching easer and doesn't affect score)
Thus having high IVs in HP helps too

Also I caught a shiny metapod at the bug catching contest, it won first place but its score was only 311.

Well, the pokemon being shiny adds points so for a Metapod that is shiny, around 311 points seems reasonable...

Also, YOU FORGOT TO INCLUDE "ATK" IV, just saying in case you overlooked it...

I overlooked it because for a butterfree SA is what matters, also I don't think shiny add too many points.

Oh yeah, ok nevermind, though it does add some points so maybe that's part of what helped you aside from high HPs seeing as Metapod is in the lowest class of species according to the judges anyway...cause I never get even close to 366(a score previously posted here) no matter how great a pokemon with full HPs that's not Shiny I catch is...
