Frost, Thanks so much for doing this rating. I enjoyed reading it and I'm surprised that Tomokazu hasn't been run out of town with torches and pitchforks by now. Seriously! He needs to either learn how to correctly draw Pokemon or find a new job. |

[color=olive]I simply wanted to express my deep appreciation for this extremely epic topic. I laughed, I cried, it made me happy and even frustrated at times. While this particular forum isn't where I usually float I have to say I will never forget the day I browsed ti. It gave me something very entertaining to read from beginning to end during my spare time of eating milk and cookies. So, I've started my new comparer with the Black and White Pokemon included. I'm 27.5% done with 228,826 matches between 677 Pokemon/alternate forms after ten days. All of the older Pokemon started from scratch so that 2008-2009's opinions didn't bias my ~real and pure~ 2011 opinions. Right now, there are seven Pokemon whose rankings are finalized: the top four and the bottom three. Make your predictions for my BW favorites/least favorites now! :O |

COOL! Can't wait to see this! And let me guess... Victini will get kinda high, Gigalith will be a little bellow the 'neutral zone', Galventula will get really high, Cryogonal will fail miserably, the "nadus" trio won't get very high, Reshiram will get high, but I KNOW that this lump of dirt won't get anywhere near the winner zone. |

I'm guessing Jellicent will get a decent ranking as it's in your signature. Sewaddle could get high. Deformed Monkey (Zekrom) will probably get below par, and Whirlipede will be the laughing stock of the new thread. |

Post subject: | Re: IGN or Frost, who has the better top 100? (See page 15.) |
So IGN posted their top 100 Pokemon as voted on by their visitors. I doubt there could be a more predictable list of Pokemon than this: IGN's Top 100 (2011, Generation 1-5) wrote: #100-91: Gastly, Gabite, Cubone, Onix, Hitmonlee, Glaceon, Machamp, Growlithe, Luxray, Kadabra #90-81: Rapidash, Braviary, Electivire, Meganium, Palkia, Deoxys, Rhydon, Electabuzz, Infernape, Latias #80-71: Steelix, Celebi, Ivysaur, Kyurem, Flareon, Absol, Serperior, Houndoom, Kingdra, Samurott #70-61: Cyndaquil, Swampert, Zoroark, Pidgeot, Sceptile, Haxorus, Kabutops, Quilava, Metagross, Arceus #60-51: Darkrai, Empoleon, Hydreigon, Aggron, Haunter, Raichu, Aerodactyl, Espeon, Bulbasaur, Torterra #50-41: Blaziken, Flygon, Pikachu, Vaporeon, Squirtle, Latios, Wartortle, Milotic, Nidoking, Dialga #40-31: Umbreon, Giratina, Garchomp, Charmander, Jolteon, Moltres, Salamence, Charmeleon, Lucario, Ninetales #30-21: Dragonair, Reshiram, Snorlax, Lapras, Feraligatr, Kyogre, Raikou, Scyther, Typhlosion, Groudon #20-11: Alakazam, Scizor, Entei, Gengar, Suicune, Venusaur, Ho-oh, Articuno, Arcanine, Gyarados #10-1: Zekrom, Tyranitar, Zapdos, Rayquaza, Mew, Dragonite, Lugia, Blastoise, Mewtwo, Charizard Charizard winning, Mewtwo being the runner-up, and the list being packed to the brim with Starters, Legendaries, Eeveelutions, and Pseudo Legendaries... How dare a list of the 100 most popular Pokemon be filled with popular Pokemon? I am OK with their list. I crossed out the Pokemon that I absolutely hate and ended up crossing out less than ten names. #100-91: Gastly, #90-81: Rapidash, Braviary, Electivire, Meganium, Palkia, Deoxys, Rhydon, Electabuzz, Infernape, Latias #80-71: Steelix, Celebi, Ivysaur, #70-61: Cyndaquil, Swampert, Zoroark, Pidgeot, #60-51: #50-41: #40-31: Umbreon, #30-21: Dragonair, Reshiram, Snorlax, Lapras, Feraligatr, #20-11: Alakazam, Scizor, Entei, Gengar, Suicune, Venusaur, Ho-oh, Articuno, Arcanine, Gyarados #10-1: Zekrom, Tyranitar, Zapdos, Rayquaza, Mew, Dragonite, Lugia, Blastoise, Mewtwo, Charizard My own personal list off the top of my head would be: #10-1 Butterfree, Swampert, Zangoose, Meganium, Pikachu, Raichu, Snorlax, Dragonite, Jolteon, Heracross Important things to note about IGN's list - -Meganium is the second lowest starter at #87. Emboar is the only starter not on the list and therefore is the least popular at IGN. -Blastoise and Charizard are significantly more popular than Venusaur. ( ) -All of the version mascots are on this list. -All Eeveelutions are on the list except Leafeon and Eevee himself. Leafeon weeps. -Braviary is kind of a trooper, he's the only BW Pokemon who is not a legendary, starter, or dragon besides Zoroark (who is popular anyway from being "special") |

Oh yeah, that reminds me. Emboarealousy Leafealousy Instead of either it was so totally necessary to get Gabite of all things in there, IGN. Such robbed goddesses even though they probably won't be in my new top 100 (and Leafeon wasn't in my original top 100) either. |

I've never given much thought to ranking Pokemon so I can't come up with a top 100 list but here are my top 10 in nationel dex order. Poliwhirl, Weepinbell, Omanyte, Lanturn, Hoppip, Gligar, Mantine, Altaria, Tropius, Cherrim. I'm not sure of all of those and had some trouble picking the last two or three but it's more or less correct. Oops I think I missed the point of the question. IGN's list has none of my top ten it seems so it's pretty lame. Frost's list wins ¬_¬ |

Post subject: | Re: IGN or Frost, who has the better top 100? (See page 15.) |
Unfortunately I can't do that because my Pokemon comparer is a page on the actual site, with the results stored in the site's database, and therefore it's pretty resource heavy in terms of database space/query bandwidth. As long as you guys are far less detail-oriented than I am, I found that a simpler alternative way is to rank the Pokemon in smaller groups like types first and then integrate those lists into a bigger final one. And/or rank every Pokemon on a scale of 1-10 and then sort each number's list. Something people find effective on Survivor Sucks (which has a whole forum with users posting various rankings like mine) is to take a group of candidates, e.g. Ghost-type Pokemon. Look at the first two entries, e.g. Gastly and Haunter, and decide which you like more, listing the order in something like Notepad. Then look at the next entry, e.g. Gengar, and start from the bottom of your list. "Do I like Gengar more than Gastly? Yes. Do I like Gengar more than Haunter? Yes." Do the same for the next entry, e.g. Misdreavus, and so on until the list is ranked. Of course that's not very effective in a pool of 649+, so that's why I recommend breaking the Pokemon up into sub-groups first. |

I've tried to do this but no matter what methods I try, I keep coming across realizations that I actually like the one ranked #53 better than the one ranked #42, and... yeah. I can do my Top 10, but anything after that is just a mess. |
