Same here, the Emerald Animations, just look bad, the Crystal ones looked much better.

I also don't like how many pokemon there are (I pretty much hate most of the R/S Pokes, except for a couple),and they're adding stupid things like EVs and Mirage Island.

I would like to see more Evolutions and Prevolutions of the old Pokemon, instead of making brand new pokemon.

Some ideas like your Manta and Tentaboo (and even Lati) are probably way better than some new ones coming out in Diamond and Pearl.

And another thing, I really don't like the ideas of Mew, Celebi, Deoxys and Jirachi.

Since you have to either Pre-order some game, go to one of the events or event a buy a Gameshark.

Nintendo SHOULD focus more on the Pokes, instead of making people buy extra stuff (E-Reader and Gameshark) or go to the events for unobtainable Pokemon.

Well that's my opinion.

(P.S I don't think you named the Remoraid Prevolution)

There's no Remoraid preevolution yet, Remoraid itself is used to evolve Manta.

As for both of your comments, my sentiments exactly. I long for the day when Kanto, Hoenn and Johto (and maybe the Sevii Islands?) come together in one complete game cartridge, and most (not all, most) of the Pokemon can be caught in the game, with only a small minority (gengar? golem?) requiring some trading or whatsoever.

RBY games are great! IMO, they are only second to GSC. I loved when you could have an unstoppable slowbro with amnesia, when you could use a selfdestructing snorlax, in yellow version when you could beat giovanni's dugtrio with a level 3 pidgey(that idiot Giovanni set up his dugtrio with all ground attacks  ) And I like the game alot better without having to bother with EV's and things like that...

EVs are okay, they add a whole new level of strategy and this has attracted more people to play the game, I think. Overall, I still like Ruby and Sapphire the most in terms of overall gameplay, but I find some of the old GSC features cooler. Examples are the transitions between day and night, as well as the radio station.

I definitely agree with the overall sentiments of this thread. It looks like a good number of the Pokemon created for Ruby/Saphire were made for the sake of making new Pokemon to fill up a roster. There are a few that are cool, but I stress the word "few".
I'm all about the re-release of the original Pokemon. I don't think they should release any more than 50 new Pokemon in any additional games.

here's the thing. Nintendo sells the E-Readers and holds the events because they know that the fans will have their business. For every person that doesn't want to or can't go to a nintendo event/get an E reader card, there are like 10 that are willing to do either or both.

I like the animations. these pokemon actually move around. Crystal just had something like a blink or a wiggling arm, or a mouth movement. Emerald has rather in depth movement. and that's another thing. People will buy Emerald because even though it's a remake, it's DIFFERENT. it's the same idea behind porting the NES and SNES games to the GBA (and you know damn well that people buy those) It sells. It makes money.

as for the events, I've been to three. ALL of them were free admission. The only one what wasn't was the Six Flags tour, and that was admission to Six Flags, not the event itself.

basically, what I'm saying is that these are a free service to you. The game was designed to have the rare pokemon and events. Even Japan had to get their Mews and Celebis a certain way. Nintendo of America can easily say "forget you." and they had the opportunity when Crystal came out and the mobile feature was canned. But no. Instead of having an unobtainable pokemon, they spent an assload of time and money going all over the place to make sure that people got their Celebi or Mew. And they made no money directly. They might well have LOST money.

as for EVs, it's a great system. It's just something put in the game to prevent the sheer imbalance that the past games had. The amount of "standard" pokemon has grown with each game, and not just because of the new additions. the EV and nature system reinforces the idea of "there is no universally strong pokemon."

for those of you who want prevolutions: Why are those NOT filler pokemon, and an r/s pokemon that's similar to a r/b/y/g/s/c pokemon is? Why is something like, say Spinda (It's not that great statwise, or movewise. it's pretty much for novelty, IMO, though I love it) is filler, yet a baby form of something which you might not even use isn't? Not all the pokemon are even MEANT to be good. there are novelty pokemon in the original 150 as well as in g/s/c and in r/s. (If you think Farfetch'd was made to be a serious battle pokemon, I feel sorry for you)

and for those of you who are angry about version or series exclusive pokemon, that's been one of the aims from day one. If you want a monster raising game that isn't version specific, try Digimon or Monster Rancher. Pokemon isn't for you. While I agree that the amount of new pokemon should be shortened (100 tops would be a good number) the whole "let's make a supergame with all the pokemon and countries and gyms" is 1) too complex to happen 2) going against the premise of the game, which is catch, trade, and battle.

Basically, what I'm getting at is, if you don't like trading for pokemon, don't. If you don't like going to nintendo events or getting an E-Reader for otherwise unobtainable pokemon, don't. The only person forcing you to buy that link cable or that second version, or even that gameshark that isn't licensed by nintendo is YOU. Deep down, the idea of "gotta catch 'em all" is sticking with you, whether you know it or not, whether you like it or not.

I love it. Way to get fired up. I feel a little inspired.

But in response to the "filler" comments...
The reason I'd choose pre-evolution Pokemon to brand new Pokemon is that it starts and stops at a given point. You know exactly where it's going or where it's been. So instead of having a whole new option on the board, we've expanded on an already existing option. That becomes advantageous when you are a developing player trying to decide on how to work your team. Having more room with each of less options forces you into a decision-making position; it forces you into a specific direction.

the thing is that either way, prevolutions or new evolutions either way make for one more evolutionary obselete pokemon. for example, if you were to make, say, a baby Sentret, that pokemon would already be poor statwise, thereby making it just another route to getting a furret. by the same token, a furret evolution would make Furret useless. either way, a prevo or evo would make for one less pokemon potentially usable in any battle (evolution is almost always encouraged, so the lesser forms of any pokemon are considered just as or even more undesirable than a statistically weak final form) however, a new evolutionary chain makes for no "loss" of a pokemon to the evolution standards. A new chain won't interfere with the evolutionary superiority of a pokemon from another. Linoone and Furret are both final form pokemon. If they made a furret evo, Furret would only be a middle evolution, thereby making it useless evolution wise. this pokedex slot can be filled with a non-evolving or an evolution of a new pokemon, thereby adding one more final form slot either way. Plus, the addition of babies or new evolutions makes for a rather uniform evolution process, don't you think? if EVERY pokemon had a basic/baby, middle, and final form, it wouldn't be very fun, IMO. 2 pokemon evolution chains and non-evolving pokemon are fine by me. they add variety.

I guess i'm rambling, but my point is that new pokemon make the past more evolutionarily sound. I'm all for secondary evolutions (Slowking, Hitmontop, etc.) but they really don't need anymore tampering with singular evolution chains, whether they be babies like Pichu or new final forms like Crobat.

To the EV and nature haters:

They really don't have that big an influence on gameplay itself. The idea of EVs and Natures is there for the hardcore strategists who know other hardcore strategists and get together with them to battle out their hardcore strategies on a regular basis. If you don't like the idea of getting the perfect amount of EVs, don't worry about it. If you don't like breeding for natures or moves, don't worry about it. You can complete the game just fine without giving it a second thought.

That's what I do basically. I rarely battle with others, so usually I play the game just for entertainment. You can see that when I post my teams, since I do not post the EV spread simply because I did not bother. A good set and a high enough level is all you need for the Elite Four ^_^

i personally think that - pokemon should do a 'poll' type thing on their website with new ideas of pokemon and whichever pokemon wins the vote then it will be made. because i agree with a lot of you out there, RSE pokemon were just rubbish and were probably made for the sake of it to make up numbers, and more fire pokemon NEED to be made. who agrees???

I don't know that I'd single out Fire as the type needing to be bulked up. There are a number of type combinations that have not yet been created, but would probably be pretty awesome/creative.

well, Capcom does a lot of fan contests. All the Megaman Robot Masters after Megaman 1 were made and submitted by fans, and now with Megaman Battle Network, they take 3 submissions for Net Navis. I'm sure pokemon could do something similar, and have 10 fanmadee pokemon put into the next games. (or the next 3 starters+evolutions?)

i totally agree with you, i was just making an example, steel and dark need to be 'bulked' up far more than fire does, it is just that fire is one of them and i personally, would like to see more of them.

I like Ruby/Sapphire (haven't played Emerald yet), but I think they were lacking somewhat. I would have liked the day/night thing to be included. It makes the whole world seem more real.

I always like the idea of new pokemon, but I think in Ruby/Sapphire they scraped the barrel a bit. Things like Sealeo and it's evolutions - they were already done in Seel and Dewgong, who were classics in my opinion, as were all of the originals. I wouldn't mind all the world's coming together. It would be interesting, to say the least.

On the issue of event obtainable only pokemon and legendary, I say "everything in moderation". The more legendary pokemon there are, the less legendary they become. I love Mew, and even Celebii, but after that they get a little redundant. The legendary birds and dogs were good aswell, and Mewtwo was just the BEST.

That is just my opinion.

What are EVs?

Anyway, I agree with all of you.

I also hate the fact that the visible Morning/Day/Night system in Gold,
Silver and Crystal was eliminated.

Going further into that topic, in Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire (I don't know
about Emerald - I only have it in Japanese on my computer at the
moment and I can't read a thing anyone says) you could see the current
time on your Pokegear.

Now, not only did they make it harder by putting in a Standard Clock
instead of a Digital one, the only place you can see the time is at your
house on Littleroot Town. And, no offense, but who in the world is going
to travel back to Littleroot every time they play (especially when they
don't have Fly) just to read the time on their clock?

I like all of the new Pokemon, but hate their sounds - most (not all) of
them have very lame sounds - In Red/Blue/Yellow/Green/Gold/Silver/
Crystal, it really shows that Nintendo put E-F-F-O-R-T into making the
games. Now, it's like they want MONEY more than SATISFACTION.

Personally, I prefer Post-Evolution Pokemon. Pre-Evolutions, in my
opinion, are too weak. Post-Evolutions, especially when your Stage 2
Pokemon can vary depending on what stone you use on them, or what
time of day it is (like Eevee), are the best!

I like in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald how they minimized the amount of
repetitive music used in the game, unlike in Red/Blue/Yellow/FireRed/
LeafGreen/AquaBlue where the music in Viridian City is exactly the same
as the music in Pewter, Saffron, etc.

But I still think that they should have more variety. Do you notice how
all the regular trainers in a certain region (Johto, Kanto, Hoenn, with the
exception of Orre) have the same music? It becomes irritating to listen to
after a while.

Colosseum was the Best!
But there was still Music Repetition in it...

Who here agrees with me?

Maybe PokeMon games have outgrown handhelds... Maybe they should move on to a different platform (Non-Stadium/Colosseum-like). a MMORPG would be cool, or an actual pokemon game rendered in 3D.

I would just like to say that that question is ask too many times. Here is a good site that describes the uses of EV's. Enjoy!

PS EV's are annoying but cool!
