Missingno is just a glitch in the game, which you can exploit to get infinite items, catch safari pokemon outside the safari zone, and stuff like that. It's not a Pokemon! Anyway they removed it in Yellow version, so it only exists in Red and Blue. |

It is not, and never will be a Pokemon. It just appears in a battle, and assumes the characteristics of another Pokemon. For example its cry may be Zapdos' cry or the cry of some other Pokemon. As for the specific name missingno, the name was just given to it by people who played the game. It's not as though Nintendo made it official. Hope this answers your doubts
