in pokemon yellow which starter ur rival had? i mean which form his eevee evolved to? for me he had aImage so i vote for it.

I don't have yellow but I am curious. Is there some formula for him choosing which eevee form to get or is it random as far as we know?

Its not random. It depends on your first battle. If you lose against him in your first battle, his Eevee evolves into Vapreon. If you win, it evolves into Jolteon. If you lost the first battle, but won the second one, it evolves into Flareon. I'm not 100% sure on this because I threw away my Pokemon mag, but if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me ^_^

As for my rival, I restarted my game at least 33 times, and it pretty much varies. I do believe the first time I fought my rival, he had a Jolteon.

I've changed the thread title (since I thought it was a little misleading) and edited the poll question and options slightly. I've also changed the poll so that it lasts indefinitely. Hope you don't mind that.

Anyway, since I always reset the game when I lose to my rival, the only Eevolution that my rival will ever have is Jolteon. To be honest, I didn't know what determined the Eevolution choice until I've read Krisp post.

u were all lucky for ur rival having jolteon.as my rival had vaporeon it caused me a big trouble.yes in the final battle against my rival[in the elite 4 finals] my pikachu and blastoise got fainted by battling the other E4 members.and in my final battle my nidoqueen took care off rival's all 5 Pokemon . atlast came his vaporeon.as my nidoqueen was tired . vaporeon fainted my queen with a ice beam.then the sadest thing is it fainted my pidgeot,venusaur and charizard. i am so sick of it.pls somebody tell me a good suggestion to beat my rival in the final battle.

my rival had a jolteon and i believe that it would have better if he had a vaporeon. A good suggestion for barath to beat his/her rival is to bring along a few max revives/revives and some hyper and max potion and make sure your pikachu and blatoise are ot fainted because charizarid is weak agaist water, pigeot is weak agaist ice, venusaur (evan though having an advantage) over water is weak agaist ice mabey teach your nidoqueen a thunder move or somthing. good luck

The first time he had a Jolteon, and ever since I got the game again used, it always glitches a Hitmonlee into his team instead of an eevee evolution LoL

5 of my Pokemon get their butt kick because of Jolteon .

When I fought Jolteon before I get to Victory Road . I send out my Golem against him , his speedy jolteon end up finishing my golem with a double kick , and I had my mouth wide open and was so shock . Next I send out Venusaur , as it is resistance to fighting and electric attack , back in the RBY day , poison are weak vs bug , so it just took out my Venusaur with a Pin missle and at least still be able to damage him . Next I send out Charizard against Jolteon , in the end get taken out by thunderbolt which I forgotten that he is a flying type , so I go Alakazam in the end get taken out my his pin missle but still be able to damage him with psychic . So finally down to my last , Pikachu , just take him out with a few quick attack after gary's jolteon were exhausted taking out all my five pokemon . Back in the RBY day , it so damn hard trying to train my pokemon .

My rival always had Jolteon except for one occasion. The jerk randomly threw a Vaporeon at me when I had a Diglett all set up to cream him. I owned him with Pikachu, unfortunately Diglett didn't pull through.

He got Vaporeon on my Yellow version. Meh, it's always Jolteon for my brother and always Vaporeon on my Yellow save-files.
But Yellow was too easy, I beat the league with LV51 Zappy, LV52 Cuno, LV49 Zard, LV48 Vena & Toise. Gary was especially easy.

I make the rival get a {jolteon} because that's the highest setting.
The formula for changing your rival's eevee is this:
There are two battles which determin what your rival gets. The first is in Oak's lab. The second is an opinional battle you can have with your rival infront of the Elite Four before you get any badges. This extra battle is often overlooked. Your rival stops you from entering, like he does after you get all the badges.
If you beat him more than he beats you (either 0-2 or 0-1 depending if you battle him the extra time), then your rival gets a {jolteon}.
If you tie with him (you must fight him that extra time infrom of the Elite), your rival gets a {flareon} .
If you lose to him (you can only fight the Oak battle for this) your rival gets a {vaporeon}.

None of you guys knew that?

i own yellow and i have fought all of them so quit complaining,and my pikahu and team were in the ether low 40's or mid,some of my pokemon were at 50 close so quit whining some of u.

There is a set formula for this.

It depends on the battle at the Lab and the optional battle on Route 22.

If you lose both battles it becomes a Vaporeon.
If you win one and lose one it becomes a Flareon.
If you win both it becomes a Jolteon.

If you do not participate in the optional battle it counts as a "loss".

When you face Gary as a champion and he has Jolteon lvl 65 he's almost impossible to beat. Not only is he fast, but in that game Poison is weak to Bug! I had to go all out on him. First I tried Alakazam even though he would clobber me with Pin Missile (then again he can clobber all mine except Pikachu). I got one Psychic in and then I fell. Articuno was my best bet because his Thunder kept missing. Jolteon is the hardest to cope with and the hardest to beat, so come prepared with a HIGH LEVEL DUGTRIO (which I did not have)!
