Post subject:  National Park Contest
In the National Park bug catching contest, what pokemon do you usually catch to win the contest. I need help, I can't train my {sunkern} until its a {sunflora} , luckily I have until Tuesday.

/me thinks back to the days of Silver version.

Yes...I won the contest with a Venonat. It was level 16. I think I got lucky though, because Cooltrainer Nick wasn't competing that day. =)

I always save then turn off my game if Cooltrainer Nick is there. He <s>sometimes</s> always wins.

I usually go with the harder-to-find ones, like Scyther, Pinsir, Beedril, and Butterfree. They score nicely, and if they're decent leveled they score a bit higher.

Plus, if ya get a Scyther, you can evolve it later on. Another reason I go for Scythy ^_^

I always use a Scyther or a Pinsir to win the contest.When I can't find one of those Pokemon,I would just catch a Butterfree or any other pokemon that i find and hope that I will win.

And If I get a High-leveled Scyther,I'll evolve It to a Scizor Later.

Scyther and Pinsir are your best bets. They usually guarantee you a top three finish, and often make you the outright winner.

the one i have won the most with is Pinsir. but the points also count on how much hp the pokemon has left i once ended up winning with a catapie

Eh? I always thought that it was just a combination of level and rarity! Anyway, Syther won a couple of times, though I often win using the other main ones (Pinsir, Beedrill, Butterfree)

In gold, I got 1st place with a lvl 18 weedle, full hp. I told everyone at school and they didn't believe me :(

In Crystal, I won with a lvl 17 butterfree

Any pokemon can win the contest, however it depends on how lucky you are; if you catch a lvl 18 Caterpie, you can still win if everyone else gets worse pokemon. If you catch a lvl 16 Scyther, you can still lose if everyone else gets awesome pokemon.

When I won my two Sun Stones, I got them with a lvl 16 Pinsir and a lvl 17 Butterfree.

Scyther all the way.

I usually score decently, if not WELL when i catch a good one. Plus Scyther is one of my favourite pokemon anyway, so its a bonus to expand my collection :wink:

I always snag a Scyther because it learns False Swipe. Then I use it to catch others in future contests. (Not to mention that Scyther ROCKS!!)

When I do my first contest I get a Scyther and keep it regardless of points so I can have False Swipe.

But I just won today's contest with a Lv 14 Scyther at full HP and sleeping.

Luck seems to be part of it too. 80% of the time I lose, I lose to Cooltrainer Nick. He wasn't there when I won today.

I've only played the contest teice, but both times i won with a butterfree, on lv 18 and one lv 16.

Scyther's prolly best... course, Pinsir's not bad either. Scyther's just got some cuteness on him. :D

... I prefer shooting for 3rd place, though... cause I like Gold Berries.

I usually win with a pinsir, though i once won with a metapod because it was shiny. Lucky me! Of corse, due to my impecable timing, the batteries on my old GBC died before i could save. Its my old one because I threw it against the wall after that and it broke. :frustrated:

Its been known that to win, you need something rare and something powerful. The best are Scyther and Pinsir (Levels 13-16). If you're running out of time, settle with Butterfree/Beedrill. Paras, Venonat, Caterpie, and Weedle will NOT help.

Actually, level 18 Weedles and Caterpies can score very nicely, sometimes even more than Beedrill and Butterfree. I'm not sure if it's the level or rarity that counts, but it's most likely a mixed value of the Bugs level and rarity that determines you score.

Usually the best way to win is catch a Scyther or a Pinsir, although Butterfree and Beedrill can (lol, catch a shiny Butterfree like I did and you're still likely to lose). Lv 18 Caterpies/Weedles do the trick too... (sometimes...)

scyther all the way! i mean who doesn't want like the second fastest bug in the entire line of games,plus he evolves to something with one weakness,fire!

{scyther} goes to {scizor}

in fact i have scizor i got off my sliver version and traded it to my gold version.
