 Can GBC games be traded with one another on a GBA?

Okay, you should've read the title unless you decide to randomly click on a topic. Im getting Gold tomorrow (if my frined doesnt forget it...again...) and my friend has Silver. I like Skarmorys. They aren't in Gold. My question; Can we trade with one another (Gold to Silver) using our Game Boy Advances? I know you cant trade RBYGSC to RSEFRLG, but I dont yet know if you can trade old games with each other on new systems. If I cant, ...time to get my friends GBC to borrow again....
