I know you need an E-reader to get the pokemon in Altering Cave (smeargle, stantler, etc.) but how exactly does it work, cause I'm not going to buy one if I don't even know if I have everything that I need to go with it. I know it goes into the slot in my GBA SP and it said something about sliding a card... kind of like a credit card... what cards are they talking about? the actual pokemon trading cards?

I don't think the cards are available anymore, and I don't think Nintendo sold offered very many anyways in the US.
However, those pokemon can be found in Colosseum.

I've found tons of the cards online. Just do a search for them, thats what I did. Sion is right though, there aren't a lot of different ones offered. You can get them though.

If you have emerald version, you can also get those pokemon too. That's one of the reasons why I got it so I can have Stantler and Gligar.
