I haven't been able to catch a Pikachu with a Light Ball, i've caught 76 Pikachu (not kidding) and not one of them has it, I've been catching them in the Power Plant. Is there a such thing as a Light Ball in Leaf Green?

well, in the Japanese Pokemon Colosseum bonus disk, you could get (aside from Celebi instead of Jirachi) a Pikachu with light ball(and maybe surf, but I doubt it), and I think a shadow Scizor. I don't think that Light Ball can be found on wild Pikachu. If you can, after catching 76 pikachu, it'd have to be uber rare.... and yes, metal coat on wild magnemite.

Took a long time to catch them (I have 999 of each ball and a Marowak with False Swipe), I have about 1 of every Nature so it wasn't completely wasteful (Future s). You can also find the Metal Coat by the kid polishes the statue (Tectonix). Idon't think you can find them in FR/LG, it's only listed as R/S and GSC, but you can find Magnets on Magneton.
And I don't want to waste my Thief TM, and I don't have any pokes who know Covet.

Linoone learns Covet in the mid to late 30s. Shan't be too hard to get one.

I haven't been able to trade with the other games yet, so I can't get a Linoone.

How about to stop catching the Pikachus, then when you can trade, catch a Pikachu in the safari Zone that has Light Ball, then give it to another pokemon that you want and trade. Or you can just trade the Pikachu with Light ball.

I can say with 90% confidence that Pikachu in FR/LG don't have Light Balls attached, only Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald ones do :x
I can also say with 85% confidence that LGFR magnemite don't have Metal Coat :S
Snorlax learns Covet...which really won't help with Chansey, Pikachu or Magnemite :x

Well i've confirmed it, there are no Light Balls attach to FRLG pikas, I've caught about 300, trying to get 1 of each nature and gender, i'm only missing 3, Modest girl, Rash girl and Timid girl.
I caught 12 Pikas in my Ruby and one of them had it so I transfered it over.
Well at least you can get Magnets from Magnetons.

I thought it was just Magneton that had Magnets, That's good if Magnemite do too, i'll check my Leaf Green later to make sure.
