Pokemon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition is one of my favorite games. Why? Cuz there's a Pikachu following you around!!!

I have all three of the original games, and I'm restarting Yellow so I can get all 151 on it. That being said, I made the stupidest decision ever when I came to Mt. Moon, and grabbed the wrong fossil! :frustrated: Admittedly, I can ask some people to find a Kabuto, but it is the only one I'll have trouble with now.

It is nice to have Pikachu following you around, but no other Pokemon does that... Kind of stinks that it took so long for the idea to take hold again.

While some things I like about Yellow (all the Starters? YES!), others I don't. For example, even though the Gyms are wrong in their lineups (more on that in a PM if you're curious), RB was better than Y for me. I get that they were going for the anime feel, but that touch made them almost too easy (I'm looking at you, Lt. Surge!).

I also have some questions about Yellow (as far as mechanics) in a different topic, and I hope that I can get an answer, because for some reason the game is starting to glitch on me...

Started playing mine a few weeks ago again and then had to stop because of exams etc. Aww it's great fun. I love that game so much. Bit of a bum down when you have done everything though since there's not an awful lot that can be done after the E4...

That's so true. The reason I deleted my first file in Yellow is because I beat the Elite4.

I started playing again but when I try to turn it on the Gameboy screen that comes up when you turn on the power is all messed up instead of saying Nintendo on the bottom it just has a black box where it should be.

I have had that problem multiple times, and it usually signifies a weak connection between the game and the unit (GB). Try taking the cartridge out, and firmly inserting it into the slot again. This sometimes facilitates a connection between the things at the bottom of the cartridge that connects to the machine. If nothing else, try it again.

Remember, patience is the key.

Side Note: I now have 44 Pokes (before Rock Tunnel) in my Dex, haven't traded my fodder in yet.

My big brother used to have yellow. And then I had blue.

The last time I checked (a few years ago) my Blue save data was corrupted, but Yellow was working.
Last week I opened Yellow hoping to see my brothers pokemon and the save was corrupted. :frustrated:


I mean it was in its box for a decade, how does it get corrupted ??

I was just playing this game! I got it a couple months ago and is the oldest game I have, albeit my most recently acquired.
Question: If you evolve your Pikachu, or have a different Pikachu in your party, will it still say its name when you look at it in your party or enters battle, and will it still follow you around?

I know that when you send it into battle it will definitely be a Raichu, but your other questions i don't know. Haven't really bothered to get far enough in the game :shock: . Try the RBY Section on the Psypoke Main Site. It probably has the answer to your question.

You can't evolve it unless you trade, I did that and it stopped following me around D:> It was as if it was never my trusty Pikachu

You guys got me all sad :( my dad had got me the game when i was very young and i ended up not to play it because i couldent read :P well around fifth grade i picked it up and played all the way through it and loved it. Thanks to this thread i speant an hour and a half trying to find the game of the generation its a shame i couldent find it :(

BUT I HAVE A GBC EMULATOR ON MY PHONE AHAHAHAH PICKACHU EVERYWHERE I GO MUHAHAHAHA

I got this one. Basically, evolving your Pikachu into a Raichu is no different at all from evolving any other pokemon by stone. However, it will no longer follow you around. And I might be off on this part because it's been a while, but I think it still carries the the special Pikachu image when you look at your pokemon via start menu.

I tried evolving my pikachu, but I was dumb back then, Didn't know you were supposed to trade, so I ended up using 'words' and got grounded. But now I know! My pikachu is super annoying about thunderstones! :frustrated:
