I just started again with BLUE since it is years since last time i played it, and i am going to finish it. But since it is so few colors.. if there is shinys here, is it possible to see the difference between a shiny and not shiny? |

You only can tell if you have a Shiny in RBGY if you transfer/trade them to GSC Versions cause Shininess only actually registers in the 2nd Gen games & above... If you don't plan to do that then simply put, nope... |

That's because the concept of Shiny Pokémon itself wasn't invented until Gen II. Didn't know that a Pokémon traded from Gen I to Gen II had a chance of being shiny, though. |

A Pokemon from RBY has the same chances as a Pokemon from GSC for being shiny, this is because of the way shininess is determined. "Deter Values" will determine what kind of stats a Pokemon will have, the lowest being 0 and the highest being 15. Here's the stats of a Pokemon: Quote: HP: 0 or 8. Attack: 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, or 15. Defense: 10. Speed: 10. Special: 10. The reason HP can only be 0 or 8 is because for each time another stat is an even number, its potential HP DV goes down. I can't remember the exact formula but if its attack is even too then his HP will be 0. If the Attack is odd his HP will be 8 because an odd attack stat adds 8 DV to HP. By manipulating a shiny "glitch" in RBY involving another shiny like Gyarados you can catch other shinies pretty easily by following this guide. |

no. HGSS uses a different system for determining shininess. |
