Since Gen 3 pokemon have been givin abalities. Some help you, some dont, and some you have no clue what the point of the abilites are.

Since Gen 5 is coming, it got me thinking abilites. What will the new abilites be? How will they tweak the old one?

So what do you guys think? Are there abalities you'd like to see more of? Less of? Scraped altogether? What new abilites would you like to see? What would you like to see done to excisting abilites?

Im likin what game freak did to sturdy, it makes sense, and yet i wonder WHY they didnt do this in the begining.

Id actually like to see a steel exclusive ability that has to do with sunny day, not sure what it would be called, but here's the ability:

A steel pokemon with this ability in play during sunny day would decrease the oppents accuracy by 5% or something like that.

Id also like them to scrap Traunt. I see it's usefullness.. if you have skill swap.

But without Truant, Slaking would be far too broken, its stats are ridiculously high and truant is the only thing stopping this thing from destroying everything

Slaking could be a great pokemon in a double battle if it has a good partner, a Skill Swap or Gastro Acid user.

I would be interested if there is an Ability like this:
-If this pokemon attacks, the opponent could be flinched.
-If this pokemon in your party, Flash is no longer required to enter somewhere.
Field Effect: Wild pokemon rate will be doubled.

its a lengendary of course its over powered!! it doesnt need something holding it back

Truant should stay as is, it's a good way to make sure Slaking doesn't destroy the world. However, Slow Start should cut either Attack or Speed, not both. And maybe cut the amount of turns to 3.

I'd like to see a couple more Pokemon with Adaptability, and also an ability that would get rid of fog or any similar weather conditions, but in battle, it prevents the opponent from laying entry hazards. Kind of like Rapid Spin.

As pretty much everyone else has mentioned, traunt is only given to pokemon who would be too powerful without it, that being said I don't see Slakoth being too powerful even against all basic pokemon without it though Slaking would be pretty much destruction to the franchise without it...

Anywho, some abilities I would like to see remastered come 5th Gen are;

1. Sturdy = I know it was already done but I was kind of hoping this would be one of them & I got my wish as pretty much no one uses OHKO moves much anymore...

2. Dry Skin = The pokemon that have this ability technically gain not a lint bit of benefit from it & more then that gain a very messed up consequence just for having this ability, 2 if I'm not mistaken...

3. Solar Power(ed?) = Sunkern's ability is what I'm referring to...it pretty much dooms the pokemon from even being able to gain any benefit from the 1 weather effect that is suppose to benefit all pokemon of it's type at least in some way...

4. Tinted(?) = Venomoth has this ability, I would want this ability to have more of an effect of attacks that aren't very effective as how it stands now, it doesn't do much of anything to increase your chances of success in competitive battles & even ingame for that matter...

5. Steadfast = Considering that it is SPE that is increased I would like it to be more accessable if anything & not only when the pokemon flinch as I have yet to see this ability used even when battling with a pokemon that has alot of moves with that added effect on them...

6. Blaze/Torrent/Overgrow = This one I want change just to make starters have even more use then they already do, maybe have it where everytime they hit an opponent with an attack of their main type(Fire/Water/Grass respectively), they gain a notably smaller boost to their main type's STAB bonus until they are swiched out or faint of course like something around 5% or what...

Some abilities I would like to see more often come 5th Gen;

1. Adaptability = Only pokemon I have seen with this ability are of the Normal Type which is just messed really...

2. Normalize = I really loved this ability, too bad it was given to a pokemon who couldn't even really use it due to it's lackluster offensive(more so SPATK really) stats...

3. Tinted = Great ability but practically no pokemon able to even have the ability I mean come on...

4. Scrappy = same as Adaptability & Tinted combined...

5. Hustle = they give it to pretty much all the wrong pokemon, maybe give it to a pokemon who is actually use it without making a huge sacrifice...

6. Ice Body = just wasn't even an existing ability really seeing as their wasn't much of any pokemon with it & Glalie is the only 1 I remember having it...

Some abilities I don't mind not being given to any 5th Gen pokemon or just want them to focus less on;

1. Rivalry = why, because the gender ratio among all the pokemon families in existance is male dominated & this ability only works when facing the other gender so like captivate, it is in a sense...useless as most opponent's pokemon are going to be a specific gender based on things like breeding & also this ability will only work...again...on the opposite gender so I think it's enough now...

2. Sand Veil = This & the ability that works simular but with Hail instead of Sandstorm...the effects are almost non existant so either fix that or focus on more better abilities in regard to Sandstorm & Hail...

3. No Guard = This move makes Machamp too strong imo, it can hit targets even if they are airborne or underground & that is just sick seeing as it also makes all it's attacks have 100% accurancy too...too much imo, just too much, either tone down a little or GTHO can this ability do...

4. Levitate = I'm just saying that they should just give this to everything that floats above Ground as some kind of game mechanic instead of waisting a pokemon's ability slot with it...otherwise, I will say that it is a good ability, just not something I expect them to make an ability out of & give it to pokemon that they didn't instead just give Ground immunity to by some other method...

5. Anticipation = I don't see the point of this ability as it does tell you opponent's powerful moves but has it's limitations which sucks & it only tells you 1 move which might not even be what the pokemon who was said to have said move is even planning to use on the pokemon that used this ability...

6. Static = This ability & any other ability that does something simular only with a different stat can just fade a little bit into the background cause it seems like they plan to give alot of pokemon these abilities & that seems like a boring & bad idea, just saying...don't completely leave it out but don't over distribute it either...

Maybe a new ability could be this. Quicksand: Leg-using moves are disabled and the opponent Pokemon cannot switch out after 10 turns.

They could give Slowpoke, its evolutions, and Slacking the Stall ability. That way they attack last no matter what, and no waiting for damage to be dealt. Although your ability sounds very interesting.

I like the Steel + Sunny Day ability idea.

Some other abilities I'd like to see happen:
-One where you can use self-helping abilities on a partner (i.e. I would use Magnet Rise on your Fire-type partner)
-One that works inversely to the one above, so partners can use support moves on you. (These would work great for Wish)
-Terrain-affected abilities (in conjunction with Terrain-affecting moves)

Yeah that's really all I have right now.

they should change slow start so it only happens in one turn. so regigigas can be uber, or at least OU, with Protect to deal with that first turn. Or even just switch in, if its something like toxic orb.
