Depending on the nature of a pokemon, certain stats may grow faster or slower than other stats. This is why some people want certain natures for things like competitive battling. The problem of an adamant nature pokemon with special moves is that sp atk is the least favored stat of adamant pokemon. Also, natures determine what type of poffin that the pokemon likes so that the contest stats can grow easily if you feed that pokemon the right poffin. This is all I really know about natures. You may find that some natures like Bashful do not have much affect on food preference or stats. I myself do not care about natures a lot (I caught a palkia with a jolly nature which lowers sp atk lol) but there are some people like competitive battlers who can probably answer your question better.

That 10% drop in it's overall Special Attack is actually a pretty big deal depending on what you plan to use the pokemon for so it can make the damage from it's special attacks notably worse which is like WTF & this & that...so in essence, the Nature of a pokemon really does matter alot for both Pokemon Battles & Pokemon Contests...
