Post subject:  Question Regarding Illegal Items

If someone has traded me an item that is illegal, and i used it on my pokemon,
would my pokemon become illegal?
for example, if i used an illegal tm on my legit pokemon, would it become an illegal pokemon?

or what about if i breed using an illegal pokemon, would all of its offspring become illegal too?

i apologize if this is in the incorrect section, but i could not find it on my own :x

the correct section (since you asked) is above, in the "HGSS questions" sticky.
anyways, the answer:
first of all, what would an illegal tm be?? can't think of one, so... but i don't believe that it would make your pokemon illegal, as it would've had to be able to learn that move anyways, or it wouldn't work. now, if the pokemon had hacked moves (spiritomb learning sacred fire) then it would be illegal.

If you mean a TM or Item that was obtained through cheating then no because only the item is ""illegal"" as you say...

If you however are talking about a TM that teaches a pokemon a move it wouldn't normally be able to learn via TM even, then absolutely that pokemon is now considered ""illegal"" as you say...

Other then this I wouldn't know what you are talking about, hope I helped though regardless...

As far as breeding I think that the Offspring would be somewhat ""Illegal"" as you say as well seeing as I breeded a Hacked Seviper I got from the GTS(wasn't looking for it but I got it which sucked) with a Ditto & then tried to perform RNG Abuse with the Offspring & that same legit Ditto & it would never work...

Illegal as in a move the Pokémon can't learn normally, right?

Then yes, your Pokémon is now considered illegal.

i would argue that if your pokemon can learn the tm it's fine.

I'm a purist but i understand that if a friend has a tm and will give it then fine.

are you discussing lucky eggs as well?

and im still not clear about breeding with hacked pokemon :x

If you breed a hacked pokemon, the offspring doesn't come off as illegal or hacked, unless you use a code to make it shiny or something. I got a shiny Venusaur off the GTS that I know is hacked, but I've been breeding it to get shiny Bulbasaurs.

But... The offspring of a shiny Pokemon has no greater chance to be shiny. Unless it is a foreign shiny Bulbasaur, in which case we can attribute the greater chance of shiny offspring to the Masuda method.

If you use hacked TMs, hacked hold items, your Pokemon will not become illegal. This is because there is no difference between hacked items and legitimate items. HOWEVER: when you use "any Pokemon can use any TM" your Pokemon will become illegal, because it knows moves that it shouldn't. In that case, just delete the illegal move and your Pokemon will become legitimate again. Also, beware of catching wild Pokemon in Cherish, Safari and Park Balls. I'm not quite sure because I haven't tested it myself, but it's possible that this makes your caught Pokemon illegal. It's too bad, because the Cherish Ball goes well with some Pokemon, like Magcargo!

I'm thinking I need to report this whole thread to the Pokécops. I'm pretty sure this is all against the Poké-criminal code and will probably result in some Pokéjail time . . .

LOL, that's wicked funny. But, anyways, I would say that when you breed a pokemon that was hacked with a legit pokemon that the offspring would not be illegal. As long as the parent doesn't leave anything to the offspring (move, shiny, etc) that would make it illegal.

What if you exploit a glitch that allows a pokemon to know a move that it really shouldn't? eg. a Typhlosion with Dragon Pulse. That's Illegal, right.

But what if you exploit a glitch to give a pokemon moves that it would normally learn from level up, but via breeding. eg. a lvl 1 aipom with doublke hit, is this illegal?

(PS the glitch I'm referring to here is the ditto rage glitch)

If its a glitch its in the game so its legal.

Agreed. I wouldn't consider a glitch to be illegal. It's only when you invite things in from outside the game that makes it illegal.
