Post subject:  Rank the Five Isshu Pokemon (Pokabu still leading)

I'm interested in seeing which are the most and least popular of the five known Generation V Pokemon.

My Ranking:

5. Zoroark
I'm not a fan of Dark-type Pokemon, and Zoroark just looks weird. They went a little too kabuki with its appearance, which is random considering Zoroark is supposed to be a kitsune. And of course people are quick to compare Zoroark with Lucario, but I thought Lucario was cool from day one, while Zoroark is just pretty "eh." I'd like to know more about its ability, however. On one hand, it makes Zoroark seem like it's Lucariditto, but I doubt Gamefreak would do something that obvious with it.

4. Tsutaaja (Grass Starter)
I actually think Tsutaaja is a better design now than when I first saw it yesterday. People are quick to compare it to Treecko, but I don't really see that many similarities, especially when all of the Grass-type starters so far have been reptilian. It's kind of cool looking but it comes off a bit smug and it's not really cute. Plus, if it's supposed to be a snake, why does it have arms and legs? I don't get it.

3. Mijumaru (Water Starter)
People are already throwing this little guy under the bus, saying that it's ugly and it looks like a ripoff of [insert old Pokemon here], but I like it. I feel compelled to defend it when people bash him for looking stupid, so I guess that means I like it a lot. His sad face represents the hatred it has received so far. ;_; I'd really like to see this one in the anime because it wouldn't be locked into the one static facial expression that we see in its official artwork, because I find it cute even with its permanent sadface.

2. Zorua
When Zoroark and Zorua were revealed, I preferred Zoroark. However, after seeing trailers for the 13th movie that had both, I feel that Zorua is actually pretty cute (which is definitely a rarity for the Dark-type), whereas Zoroark is actually pretty horrifyingly ugly. (I don't mean that in the usual "EWW I H8 THIS POKEMON IT'S UGLEEEEE" way that a lot of people around here do. It just isn't a pretty design.) Anyway, the cuteness is appreciated.

1. Pokabu (Fire Starter)
I was kind of surprised that it wasn't a rabbit-based Pokemon, what with the bunny ears, and I'm still wondering why a pig-based Pokemon has the damn things, but at the same time I'm glad this wasn't a rabbit. I haven't picked the Fire starter first since Charmander all the way in Pokemon Blue, but I think I'm going to amend this because Pokabu is the happiest and therefore the cutest of Gen V's starter trio. I'm kind of hoping that its evolutions will be part Psychic-type so that we'll FINALLY have a Fire/Psychic Pokemon. That should have been a "no duh" type pairing but 15 years later we still don't have one. I want it so much that I wouldn't even care that we already have Psychic-type pig Pokemon.

2nd: Tsutaaja (2.77)

5. Mijumaru (Water Starter)
I don't feel good ranking a Water starter this low when I really like all of the Water starters from the previous generations. My least favorite, however, is Piplup, which is the main reason I'm not so fond of our Sea Otter. But its striking resemblance to another Pokemon is not the only reason Maru is my number five. I don't like its color scheme so much, it's too dull I think, and its overall design doesn't stand out at all. Its sort of cute, but not as interesting as its fellow 5th generation starters.

4. Zoroark
My inner Furry self is probably screaming in displeasure, but Zoroark doesn't really deserve a higher position than this. While I've always appreciated humanoid/semi-humanoid Pokemon a lot, Zoroark is just too much of a furfag for me to love. It has many positive aspects no doubt (specially the japanese folklore coloring its background), but there are little things I can't quite point out individually about it I dislike. I guess I have a like (not love)-hate relationship with this guy.

3. Tsutaaja (Grass Starter)
I'm growing to like this guy more and more, even though I still think about Treecko everytime I look at him. Tsutaaja, however, is very stylistic in his own way, and I like his color scheme a lot; the whole composition looks very nice and smooth, very easy on the eye (despite its massive nose). Now that I look at him better, his expression isn't so much of a full of confidence one, but more of a "eh", relaxed one, which is better because detaches it from Treecko (or Ash's Treecko).

2. Pokabu (Fire Starter)
Oh my God, what is this? Why is this Pokemon so adorable? I love Pokabu's expression of overjoy and its playful, jolly nature. Even though the piggy is the one that reminds me most of a non-Pokemon 'mon' (a Digimon, more precisely), it's my favorite starter by far. I love all Fire starters (with the exception of Chimchar, but that's mostly Ash's Chimchar's fault), so it makes me happy to see Pokabu made it this far in my ranking. I just hope its evolutions don't come out Mamoswine-like.

1. Zorua
I totally got over Zorua's huge forehead issue (which apparently I was the only one noticing or complaining about). Zorua's color scheme is better than Zoroark's I think, and its design is just perfectly fine although recycled. Zorua is a cuter fox than Vulpix in my opinion, and it seems to have a lot of personality. I like that sort of uniqueness. And I also liked what I've seen from the movie so far, so I'm expecting good things from this 'creepy' fox.

1. Pokabu
2. Zoroark
3. Tsutaaja
4. Mijumaru
5. Zorua

Pokabu I find, is really cool, and I like fire type pokemon in general, so I'll probably pick him as my starter. I have a feeling he will be Fire/Ground.

Zoroark is pretty cool, I like the fact he can transform & stuff.

Tsutaaja is a pretty cool dude, with his smirk and his popped collar. I think his "collar" will transform into wings. Grass/Flying.

Mijumaru is pretty cute, he'd be higher on the list if he wasn't so angry looking. But I think an Otter is cool.

Zorua is nothing special. Pretty cool, he's just Zoro's Pre-evolution.

I found that Gamefreak wanted to have the starters all have different facial expressions. Pokabu is really happy, Tsutaaja is in between, with a smirk on his face, and Mijumaru is just sad or angry or something.

4. Zoroark
(Keep in mind I don't dislike any of the new Pokemon introduced thus far, Zoroark is more like a 5/10). I just think it's incredibly ugly and unlike Lucario (who wasn't part dark) was created to appeal to the younger fanbase. I'm sure the furries were jumping for joy when Zoroark, but meh, his design didn't catch my eye like Lucario's did.

3. Tsutaaja (Grass Starter)
8/10, this Pokemon is actually kinda cool looking. I'm sure I'll find him way cooler than Treecko was (the worst starter).

2. Zorua
Again, 8/10, Zorua is super cute. I just hope he isn't lumped into the lame classification of "baby Pokemon" like some other unfortunate Pokemon. Too bad he evolves into Zoroark though...

1. Mijumaru (Water Starter) and Pokabu (Fire Starter)
I can't make up my mind on which one I like more. Pokabu is uber cute, while Mijumaru is cute in a sad give me a hug way. I fear that Pokabu will be the one who receives a cute evolution though (which might help stop little kids from humping the fire starter in every generation.)

1. Zoroark
It seems cool with it'a awesome ability. I wish I new more about its ability. I'm a huge fan of dark types so Zoroark is number one on my list.

2. Zorua
Same as Zoroark I guess but more NFE sided.

3. Mijumaru (Water Starter)
I'm a huge fan of water type starters. I used to watch this show called Backyardigans when I was little. This Pokémon reminds me of the Character named Pablo.

4. Tsutaaja (Grass Starter)
Not a huge fan but it looks cool.

5. Pokabu (Fire Starter)
I wish the its evolution gets a better dual type other than ground.

1: Zoroak
2: Zorua
3: Grass starter - Tsutaaja
4: Fire starter - Pokabu
5: Water starter - Mijumaru

Reasons:
Zoroak - I'm a huge fan of Dark Pokemon and the were-wolf look of it looks rather sinister and cool
Zorua - Well, from above but it's a cuter teeny version of it.
Tsutaaja - The look of it appeals to me more than the other starters and i have high hopes for it.
Pokabu - It's a pig...thats a fire-type. 'nuff said. Smoked bacon anyone?
Mijumaru - Well, personally. I wanted a Platypus. And i was bummed out after seeing how bad it looked.

Post subject:  Re: Rank the Five Isshu Pokemon

wow I'm late for this...

5. Pokabu (Fire Starter) = why, cause I hate everything it is for the most part anyway, 1st it looks like a Pig, 2nd it is a Fire Type(I know, I know) & 3rd with a lack of info I can't really give it any credit except that it might look awesome after it evolves & that it might be the defensive Fire Starter I have been hoping for for at least 2 Generation(including this one), in short, I don't have a really good reason for this but I just don't like it for better or for worse

4. Zoroark = Frost made it very clear why I am not all hyped up for this pokemon & shockenly it is actually more to blame on it's abilities lack of infomation rather then it's controversal(?) appearance when comparing it to it's previous evolution which is still icking me to this day & also, the Dark Type in no way is a favorite type of mine, just a type I am glad exists, in short, Zoroark came out looking against my wishes & it's ability based on the info currently available has absolutely no use so because of that I do not currently like Zoroark one bit though at least I like it better then a pig

3. Mijumaru (Water Starter) = As a pokemon in general...*sign* I don't know what to make of this, pokemon right, I look at it & get a mixed response of well, I don't know really as I guess you could say in short, this pokemon is where it is because I don't know what to make of it, was it a good design/idea, was it a garbage design/idea, will it get better with evolution, will it not, imo, who the hell can predict such a thing cause I sure as hell can not I tell you what, I'm just going to go to the next one now as this is creeping me the **** out

2. Zorua = I absolutely love this pokemon's design, it is what I want to see when someone says look at that Kitsune or whatever else works here, it is elegant & sinister at the same time in terms of a facial expression & it just happens to be something other then a Fire Type as well which is unique & definetely in in my books, in short, I love Kitsunes/Youkos, I like the Dark Type a little, I like mixed face expressions & puffy furry & cozy tails so I like Zorua, besides, it has a nice color scheme to it as well so

1. Tsutaaja (Grass Starter) = Everyone saw this coming from a mile away but I will say that this was clinch close, this pokemon appeals to me like Empoleon & Seviper does combine, it's sinester yet high class expression & leaf tail are just both fantastic & it is a snake which is another favored animal of mine, another reason that I favor it being a snake of any kind though is not because it would look good wrapped around any women's body but because this painted a greatly exceptable image in my head pertaining to the appearance of it's final evolution & I must say based on that image, I approve, finally in short, snakes & females + vine snake + constrictor + poisonous possibility = kick ass journey (one can dream can't he) & also, I is clearly the more appealing starter to me & Zorua did not turn out the absolute best I might have though it would have design wise & for the moment it has a burdenous ability so...

My reasons are depressing but deal with it, it's just the way I think without enough infomation on any of these pokemon, so...

5 and 4 - Zorua and Zoroark

Never been a fan of both. I mean they are both fine, but they just don't strike me as impressive enough.

3 - Mijumaru

I still think it's a relative of {mime jr.} . Plus, it's 'frilled dress' isn't helping his case either.

2 - Pokabu

It's fine, but I am usually biased against fire because they always get the attention, but he seems fine.

1 - Tsutaaja

I've always been a grass player and besides, my speculation on his small limbs as reference to the vestigial limbs of the huge snakes (boas and pythons) seem to support my (and others') belief that it will be a massive basilisk that is part-dragon.

Post subject:  Re: Rank the Five Isshu Pokèmon (Current Leader: Pokabu)

#1. Pokabu (Fire Starter)
I think that it sounds cool with a Fire/Psychic Pokèmon, the first one in history, also it looks the coolest.

#2. Zoroark
It looks pretty cool, it might be powerful and have a good moveset, might use it to my Wi-Fi team in B/W.

#3. Zorua
Looks a little weird and a little too cute for my liking.

#4. Tsutaaja (Grass Starter)
Looks quite stupid and strange, hopefully the evolutions will get cooler.

#5. Mijumaru (Water Starter)
Can anything get more stupid than this Pokèmon? I pray to the Japanese that the 3rd stage evolution will get much cooler.

#1. Tsutaaja (Grass Starter)
i love the idea of a grass snake, and maybe a grass/ dragon type snake would be amazing!
keep our fingers crossed.

#2. Zoroark
It looks pretty cool and ba, more so than anything else so far really

#3. Zorua
Looks a little weird and a little too cute for my liking.

#4. Mijumaru (Water Starter)
Can anything get more stupid than this Pokèmon? maybe it will evovle into something kool- but im still crossing my fingers for a kraken like pokemon.

#5. Pokabu (Fire Starter)
he's a pig. Blaizkan and infernape may have been horribly redundant but at least they made fire types look ba. this guy is gonna be bacon bits...

1. Tsutaaja
Tsutaaja's just cool like that! He just looks awesome!

2. Pokabu
Honestly, I think the only reason he made second for me is because he's kinda cute, but a fire pig?!! Especially as a starter?!!!

3. Mijumaru
Mijumaru's cute but also weird looking...

4. Zoroark
Zoroark seems cool especially his ability.
5. Zorua
Just not as good as the others.

Tsutaaja-although he does kinda look like dratini+treecko or something like that...

With these pokemon I think I like some of the fakes on youtube better...

... Good to know...

Anyway:

1.Mijumaru- Mijumaru is, well, in my opinion, the coolest one of all. It looks kinda like a fusion of Mime.Jr and Piplup. But the only thing I really don't like is the little egg thing on it's stomach. It just kills it.

2.Zoroark- Zoroark, again in my opinion, is awesome. Not awesome to place first, but awesome to place second. Zoroark's ability is so cool. it's like a mix of Ditto's Transform and Substitute. Everything on Zoroark looks cool except the hair-tie thing.

3.Pokabu- Pokabu is something you'll probably find in MapleStory. It's cute, but not my favourite. I really thought that Pokabu would have fire somewhere on it's back or something like Cyndaquil. But then again, Torchic never had fire anywhere.

4.Zorua- Zorua looks like a Dark-Type Eevee or something. When I saw Zoura, I thought it was a pre-evolved Zoroark(How stupid was I). Anyway, Zorua is a pretty cute Pokemon, but it's not my favourite.

5.Tsutaaja- And lastly, a Pokemon's name I cannot pronounce. I don't understand this Pokemon. If it's a snake, then explain to me why it has legs and arms! This Pokemon looks like it got high a few minutes ago. I really don't like how this Pokemon looks. Hopefully, it'll look better when it evolves.

Post subject:  Re: Rank the Five Isshu Pokemon (Pokabu still leading)

First off I'd like to say I base pokemon on there evolved forms, but since most of these haven't been revealed I'm going off of prediction
1. Pokabu- I can see it evolving phycially, Namely as a Steel sub type(Razor Back) or Posion (pigs can get pretty dirty) Oddly the most recent year of the Wild boar in the japanese zodiac is under the Fire Element

2.Mijumaru- I can see this one being physical too, My guess is fighting, my second guess is ghost, which could explain the sad look

3.Tsutaaja - This one is certianly special based, following the zodiac as above it would be steel type, but I think that dragon or Ghost would be neat

4. Zorua and Zorark-> both I thought would make great Dark/fighting types but when it turned out they were just Dark Type I though about how much uglyer they looked compared to Poochyena and Mightyena
