I want to transfer a Dratini from Platinum to SoulSilver when it releases on Sunday. But I want it, when it fully evolves, to know Ice Punch and ThunderPunch, but unfortunately I can't access the right move tutors until after the Elite Four, and Dratini can't learn these moves via egg moves. What should I do? D: |

First...this belongs in the "HGSS Questions Thread" & second; Train it in Soul Silver til it evolves into  then transfer it back to Platinum & Tutor the moves onto it then just transfer it back to Soul Silver & there you go...Dratini & Dragonair don't learn the moves so this is the only way...

or, before he transfers it to soul silver he can train it and evolve it in platinum, beat the E4, and teach it the moves then transfer it. *shrugs* it all depends on WHEN you need it to know these moves. is there some battle or something coming up, or are you just wanting a fire punching t-punching ASAP? plus, if you train it and everything in platinum, when you first get soul silver, it wont listen to you at first in soul silver, too high a level. its up to you i s'pose.

You could also trade an egg if the game will let you trade before beating the Elite 4. If not, you might have to wait until you or a friend beats the Elite 4 to get into a game that's not as far along. |

Oh god please don't let this be the case cause that just means that this game has the FRLG annoyance of not allowing trades from the other 3 games until you no longer really want to anymore...meh... |

Hey, I just did a little research. You can get a Dratini if you get 2000 Watts on your Pokéwalker and transfer them back o your game to unlock the route Blue Lake. It's a Group A Pokémon that requires you to take 5000+ steps on your current walk. You may not find one as quickly as you may like considering it's rare, but hey, I just got a Kangaskhan and I have barely made it past getting Pokéballs! Well, Dragonite gets Thunder Punch at level 1 in Johto, and Ice Punch is a tutor move at the battle frontier. If you have the points already in your platinum, you could always trade it back after it evolves into Dragonite. hell.net provides the information |
