NEWS FLASH: I just caught my first, wild shiny Pokémon, Lombre~ 
Caught it just north of the Resort Area. I named him Lucas.

My first shiney that I saw was a Marill in my brothers game. My actual first shiney was a cascoon in the Eterna Forest in Pearl.

My first shiny pokemon in Diamond was one obtained through a trade, it was a Zubat, and I believe it was caught in Mt. Coronet. It is now a Crobat, and was a wonderful part of my team, but now it's in the box since I'm done with the story line and I've been doing trades like crazy. Also, Pikachu colored Pichu, has since came to my retail game, and the PCP on my Pearl is from Gamestop. My first shiny was the Lake of Rage red Gyarados, and that one was my only one in G/S/C. I have more shinies, but they do not deserve to be named here because they are indeed hacked. |

The only wild shiny pokemon(Other tha gyrados of cours) I have ever seen is an abra... Anyone who knows abra's only level up move know understands why I am so attached to dark types. |

my first shiny was a black Surskit on sapphire. Once I found out how hard it is to even encounter a normal surskit on sapphire, it became my prized possession. I've also caught a shiny Rattatta, Spinda, and Shuppet. (Yeah, I played a lot of sapphire) |

He means Abra, a Psychic type, Teleported away from him. This caused him to dislike Psychics and pick Dark as his favorite. I think. |

I have several shinies... I have the shiny pichu and the special spike eared one from the event. A shiny rattatta I caught in my 1st 10 mins of SS in Burned tower, I feel that was my games apologie for the morons at the gamestop I reserved my game at not giving me my figure because they gave them out to everyone not just the reservers... I caught a shiny wurmple in a contest, she evolved into the butterfly which has very little difference to my dislikeing. As everyone should I have the storyline shiny for Silver and Gold. And last but not least my ruined roserade I caught in the special garden on my Diamond game as a roselia... I say ruined because my neaphew used action replay rare candies on her to make her a 100... Oddly enough, every shiny I own is female EXCEPT the Pichu, which I wont evolve due to its rareity as is. |

My first wild shiny was a Spheal in my Sapphire xD I wish I had known how rare they were at the time, then I wouldn't have started a new game x_X But worse than that, when I started my Soul Silver, I saw a shiny Rattata before I was able to catch any pokemon. I saw it inbetween the hometown and Cherrygrove. It was probably like...the fourth of fifth pokemon I saw in the entire game? I had no way to catch it so it was pretty upsetting lol. I took a picture of it with my phone, I will see if I can add it to my signature sometime xD |

my first shiny was a shiny oddish from ruby.. after that it was a eevee then a chansy following zubat oddish was from ruby eevee was from emerald chansy was from firered zubat was from platinum didnt cheat either. |

In all my years of playing pokemon since Blue.. I never caught a wild, non-event, shiny until just last week in HG. 500+ hours per game.. Gold, Crystal, Ruby (2x), Emerald, FireRed (2x), Pearl, Platinum.. now HG (130hrs).. and just now.. My very sickly looking Stantler. Caught it while EV training just south of Ecrukeak City (rte 37). What is even more irritating, is that my 7 year old son caught a shiny Wirmple in his first pokemon game ever (Saphire) a few years ago.. and my aunt the same catching an Unown. They have had a combined 3 years of Pokemon experience.. sometimes life just isn't fair. I refuse to get those cheated cloned pokemon. Haven't you people watched the first movie? or Star Wars? Clones are evil! =) |

There is also a good chance you may have missed a shiny. A lot of them are VERY subtle color differences.. and if you turn away for a second after their entrance (I do this on occasion) you may miss the sparkles and overlook the color. It has been even worse in this generation with the gender differences, since that feeling you get when something is off gets dismissed in the process of grinding. That and if you have a slight color-blind issue.. good luck with that. Look in the psydex with the difference in colors of the Unowns.. that dark blue in the wrong light looks awfully black to me. |
