Hey there,

Can anyone tell me why the Pokémon Company made a remake of the Ruby and Sapphire Versions (Emerald) two years after Ruby and Sapphire came out? Ok, I know they made some pretty big changes, but it's just weird that they waited two years later.

Thanks and Cheers!

They've done it for pretty much every generation.

Yeah, I just think it's really weird to do. I mean, is it just the Pokémon thing that they do? I think of it as though they always mess up in the first two games and then have to redo the game into one and then sell that. I think Pokémon Emerald is such a better version because you can catch, I think, all the Legendaries from the last two (main ones Kyogre and Groudon and the little ones) games plus more.

I believe the previous posts are correct, but i believe the main reason is because they people to trade among the 3 games therefore you are more likely to buy the older or newer games, Just my thought.

I don't think they mess it up at all; it's a marketing ploy, the same reason they do two version in the first place: to sell twice as much product. Then a few years down the road, they release a third version that's basically the same, but that has some new stuff, so they can sell a third game. $90 of income for the programming effort of one game + some tweaking.
