Cyndaquil, all the way. I don't care how much they suck competitivley, Fire types always kick a**

i replayed the game several times with each of the starters and i will tell you something. I will definitely never ever in a million years use chikorita again!!!!!! He was terrible. I constantly died and for some reason i just couldnt stand him. Im going with tododile because he was my best starter i ended up getting him to lvl 73 without even realizing it.


BUT i might just trade totodile to platinum asap then remake for cyndaquil for easy beatings on rivals and other pokemon.

I am prolly going to choose because he was my very first pokemon ever yes I really never started the game til I was a 1st grader and gold version is my memory of my grandparent actually grandpa because my grandma is still alive=D and plus fire ownz!

Hmm... it's hard to say which is surprising, normally I would say Cyndaquil because it is my favorite starter but I just finished hand training a Typhlosion to level one hundered so it would be kind o pointless to gain another perhaps totodile then

I think Totodile is the best starter in the G/S series...Not only can he take hits, he can dish them out, too! He remains useful from the moment you pick him, as well.
Not to mention, he was the one I picked in the original G/S. I still love my lvl. 99 Feraligatr. x3

With the Johto starters, it has always been hard for me to choose. I never liked one more than others, but I didn't dislike any either. They're all pretty sweet. And none of them get second types when they evolve, which is good and bad in different ways.
I don't know, with a shiny Gyarados available (which i'm sure they'll keep in the game) I would probably have to go with Cyndaquil or Chikorita, otherwise i would probably go with totodile

Probably Totodile. I don't like the other water types all that much. Although Quagsire,Slowbro,and Gyarados are nice. I like Chikorita too though. So it's a toss up between them.

hmm, I tend to want to pick Cyndaquil, because fire-types aren't very plentiful in GSC. however I may pick Chicorita, because the Grass options are kinda.. bad. (Jumpluff-failzors.)

I would have picked cyndaquil no question (best starter ever), but then I wouldnt be able to have houndoom as my fire type so i guess ill have to go with totodile, never underestimate that dancing croc, ever...

Duh, ! It evolves into the ONLY 3RD STAGE PURE FIRE TYPE STARTER!

It's a pretty hard decision. I mean, Fabular (Chikorita) is cool, but you don't want to evolve him, Totodile is pretty chill, but I think I'd have to pick Cyndaquil because he's just all-around awesome.

I'll choose Cyndaquil.

Totodile in Soul Silver, Cyndaquil in Heart Gold. I have a friend that always chooses Grass Pokemon, so I figured that I could just trade him an egg containing either one of the starters I chose, to get a Chikorita. And beside from that point, I like water Pokemon better than others.

It doesn't really matter who you choose if you have Wi-Fi because you can eventually get all the starters. I would have to say for me, I would choose Chickorita. It's so cute! Plus, I think it would be pretty cool having a little grass dinosaur thing following you around.

who would i choose? thats an easy one ! why? becuase he is the very first pokemon i ever gotten in pokemon. (my first pokemon game was silver).

for three reasons:
1. Cyndaquil's moveset Isn't all that great.
2. Chikorita, even though it's in my top five starters, doesn't have enough offense for me.
3. Feraligatr is just awesome, it might even the best physical sweeping starter ever.

It's gonna be my first Johto run, and I'm gonna pick Cyndaquill

This is actually a really tough choice for me for a number of reasons :S
First of all, I never pick grass types. Ever. They just didn't have that appeal to me. And I always thought that Chikorita was too much of a girly girl, thanks to the anime. I would always pick either Totodile or Cyndaquil. Totodile is my favorite pokemon EVER. I just love it! The perfect combination of cute, fun, and fierce. And it's evolutions are just plain awesome. But I hated how, after raising it to be super strong, I would have to teach it so many HM moves like Surf and Waterfall and couldn't have any fun with it, considering it my favorite (and I would never consider having two water pokemon on my team, or any other type double because I like variety and feel as though it wastes space :/). Cyndaquil I like a lot because it's super cute and Typhlosion is crazy awesome and a really great pure fire type. However, considering that there aren't any amazingly strong grass types in the game (and I could easily replace Typhlosion with Houndoom, another awesome fire type that I used to love) and Chikorite is starting to appeal to me (I mean, it is kind of cute and Meganium is super strong and can learn such a variety of moves), I think I go with Chiko 8D

Do believe it will be a tough choice, my love for fire types makes me want cyndaquil, but totodile's a dancing crocodile... How can you NOT love that?! I suppose i'll do what I always do, just beat it twice once with each~
