I bought Crystal Silver and Gold off of ebay recently because I wanted to play Crystal again sooo bad. I don't do competitive play just in game and my team is this:

Starters in general are overrated, but I find that Charizard, Typhlosion, and Swampert are some of the strongest team members I've had. |

Hopefully you'll still get the Togepi egg. This was my original team in Crystal and it worked rather well. I can't wait to have a cute little cyndaquil following me around! |

I'll limit myself, considering I probably never had any of these Pokemon... 1) No legendaries (too good, especially for the lineup I will put) 2) No starters (GSC weren't the best anyway by that standard...) 3) All Johto-introduced Pokemon (with evolutions, since this is a Gen. IV remake) Crobat Lanturn Xatu Umbreon Heracross Tyranitar Alternates might include: Skarmory, Mamoswine, Mismagius, Honchkrow, Steelix, Gliscor AEPMT

This is the team i hope to play in the remake. Feraligator + new physical Crunch is nice. Gengar + new learnset is nice. (Alternatives = Alakazam, Espeon, mabey Umbreon.) Magneton > Amphros. Tyranitar is always fighting with Dragonite in my mind. I'm still not sure about my choice. Ho-Oh is my Charizard. Machamp is cool, especially after that early trade. His presence on the team is highly unstable. (Alternatives = Ledian/Scizor/Hearacross/Tauros/wtvr.) My old gold team was also nice:

Usualy i use atleast 1 from this team in my other games because Gold + Silver were the best games by far in my opinion |

Some of the alternates: Skarmory (Great hybrid) Mamoswine (Another cool, interesting one) Mismagius (Ghosts can rock, look at Giratina, Gengar, Sableye) Honchkrow (Can take out Crobat, Xatu, Tyranitar and Umbreon, opens up space if no overlap) Steelix (Amazed I don't have a Steel type on there...) Gliscor (Cool hybrid) AEPMT

The Johto starters are my absolute favorite -- G/S/C is the only game where I love all three and actually have a hard time deciding. I'll probably end up picking Cyndaquil.   
I always try to work with Pokemon I like rather than going with what might be strongest. I think this team is fairly balanced, though I might reconsider Gyarados and Marowak -- right now it seems like I'm pretty week against dark types and I'm not overly happy about having both Crobat and Gyarados as flying types. I'm a sucker for that red Gyarados, though... |
