Hi,

I have a European DS and an Amerian Platinum. Upon checking there are no compatibility issues between regions so I got going with my game. However it has frozen three times, and I have never seen a DS game freeze before. I am wondering what is the likely cause of this, compatibility issue, game damage, or is this a platinum glitch that other people have encountered anyway? It happened once when using rock smash in a cave, and then much later on twice in a row when in the underground.

This happens on my older phat DS when I accidently overshake or bump the game while playing, I've never had platinum freeze on me yet (using DSi)

I'm not sure if that's it. It's happened a few times more, and happens almost every time I go into the underground.

Where did you get it from and how much did it cost? I've never encountered anything like this before. Also. please don't double post!

First of all, that's really not a double post, it's more of internet fail + lag. But yeah....that's backseat moderating.

Anyway, are you sure it's a legit game?

Sounds to me like it's illegit. I wouldn't think there are compatibility issues, as the European DS can't be that different from the American one.

Of course, there is a possibility about what MasterChef said, that your DS is kinda old and broken. Yet, I dropped my new one down the stairs and it kept the game going, and still hasn't ever frozen.

You should check first to see if your card is a real game.

I can't see how it's not a legit game, I've gone through nearly the entire game already like.

That may be so, but often the difference between legit and illegit games are very fine and are mostly small bugs and glitches and freezes.
It would help if you described to us how you bought the cartridge, and for how much, etc.

A kid from my school recently came to Canada from Europe with an European DS.
We told him to buy Platinum cause he is a big fan of the game.
They day he tried it out at school, it worked fine. But, every so often like one second of lagg showed up.

I think the only difference is the game compared to the DS.

@Smokey that sounds like what is happening to mine exactly.

@everyone else who asked; I bought the game by import through a well reviewed webstore, typical web prices, about 2/3 RRP, and it came in a proper case still shrink wrapped, had official Nintendo yolk on it.

Another thought though, could slight physical damage to the cartridge cause such a small discrepancy in play quality, or would that be more likely to cause something bigger?

any damage to the cartridge can cause problems i once had a kinda similar issue but it was just from dust on the game keeping your games in cases and stuff would keep that from happening if that is the reason for your game glitches

Yea I'm thinking it may have gotten damaged slightly in the post as the cartridge looks a little bent.

Illegit games can have those. Show us pics of the case, and the 'yolk' as you say, and we might be able to determine because fakes usually have it out of place or crooked.
