This thread is the same thing as the Shinx or Pachirusu
I personally think Quagsire is better for one he is my favorite pokemon and it has water Absorb it can learn Ice Punch but other than that Quagsire and Gastrodoon's movesets are very similar

What about Whiscash? Or Swampert?
Oh well...I'd choose Quagsire over Gastrodon because Quagsire's move pool is better.

For those replying, please give reasons as for your choice or I'll lock it since there isn't much discussing going on.
Even something simple like "X has a better movepool" will suffice, just as long as you write something other than "{pokemon} it's cool" and hit submit.

sorrryyy...
Well i like quagsire because of his looks and slightly more versatile movepool.... even though gastrodon has better stats.
{is that ok?}
Yes, that's fine. It creates possibility for discussion, therefore it isn't a postcount+1 thing. Not the most detailed post ever, but it'll do. :)

I like Gastrodon better because it has great health, coupled with his recover ability and immunity to electricity and resistance to fire make him pretty pro. and at the very least he's a good guy to have handy if you need to stall for time, like to revive or heal more powerful pokemon. and since their movesets are originally fairly close it kinda tips it in favour of Gastrodon...
and all in all since your in the sinnoh region it kinda feels weird to use guys you know so well form past generations, kinda takes the surprise away using the new pokemon...

I would break down the Water/Grounds as such:
Personal preference:
1. Quagsire -- the original Water/Ground and the cutest with the cleanest design.
2. Swampert -- the most useful Water/Ground, and it evolves from the awesome Mudkip.
3. Whiscash -- it's sort of cute and it's always smiling, but it's only alright otherwise.
4. Gastrodon -- there's nothing wrong it; but I like the others (and their pre-evos) more.
Battle strength:
1. Swampert -- OU-caliber strength; I don't think this one needs any explanation.
2. Gastrodon -- upper UU-caliber because of Recover and better stats/stat distribution.
3. Quagsire -- lower UU-caliber, but it is usable due to having Water Absorb and Ice Punch.
4. Whiscash -- NU-level; better overall stats but worse movepool/abilities than Quaggy.

Being an avid fan of water types, I decided to add something to this interesting conversation:
Out of the two pokemon that the topic creator put up for debate, I prefer Quagsire over Gastrodon. Gastrodon has better base stats, but Wooper has a cooler design then Shellos. I will actually eventually ev train them both. This was a hard decision, but Quagsire was created first, and I had a longer period of time to get adjusted to what he's capable of. I like Swampert more, though.

Personally i have felt that battling a Gastrodon is harder than a Quagsire.

I think bounce and spark give wishcash an advantage over quagsire but it ability is still bad.
