Post subject:  Female Eevie and breeding question

Hey guys. I'm pretty new at pokemon. I've finished FireRed and just purchased Diamond.

I read that female Eevies are pretty rare. After hatching about twenty male ones (breeding male eevie with ditto), I finally got a female. What are the benifits of having a female one?

Also, what dictates how a move is passed on to a baby pokemon. I know that the father passes along moves to the baby. My male Charizard has bred with a Ditto to create Charmander who already know flamethrower. Why is flamethrower passed on and not say... dragonbreath? I'm just wondering how that works (in laymans terms please)

My apologies if these questions have been asked before. I'm a noob.

There is no benifit of a female Eevee. Just don't have to use ditto.

As for egg moves use http://www.psypokes.com/lab/breeding.php. Dragon Breath is not an egg move though.

The only benefit is that if you breed two of the same species together, they produce an egg faster.

If you are trying to breed egg moves onto an Eevee, a female Eevee is necessary to breed with the male.

TMs and HMs are passed on by the father. If the father knows a move that the baby can learn as an egg move, then the baby will be born knowing that move as well.

And if it's female your able to breed it with Various pokemon from the egg type and learn their moves too right?

and if you breed compatable pokemon with your female eevee, it will always be an eevee, as the egg is always the same speices as the mother, unless its a ditto.

As for egg moves a quick answer is that certain Pokemon have things called Egg moves. Egg moves are the moves (listed on this website and in the Pokemon guides) that a pokemon may know once they hatch provided the father knows the moves you want.
