Post subject:  Certain attack patterns I've seen on recommended movesets

I've been looking at recommended movesets on the site here and some of the patterns I've seen here puzzle me.

For example: Choice Band, what the :censored:. Sure it multiplies Attack by 1.5, but using only one attack period. Why use it?

I'm not ranting here, I'm just wondering why you would use sets like that.

Here is a list of what I question right now (the list may be updated in the future)

-Choice Band usage
-Double Powder (really puzzles me)
-Trickbanding (WTF?)
-Nothing else right now...

Please answer my question without giving me hell.

Often, with walls, you'll probably be switching soon anyways, so you might as well try for a boosted attack. With proper prediction, it's a big help to physical attackers.

Trickbanding - Choice Band forces the opponent to only use one move, which is useful on walls. For example, a common trickbander, Alakazam, is walled by Blissey, the most used special wall. By Trickbanding, Alakazam greatly reduces Blissey's ability to wall (can't Seismic Toss + Softboiled to recover).

You need skill and prediction. Choice band is hard to use if your newbie.
-Using trick pokemon like Linoone/Furret. They switch Choice band/Macho brace to your opponents pokemon. Like C-banding sub/stat-upping move will give you itself time to power-up. Macho Brace lowers your speed so it can be choice too.

I now understand choice band, but what about double powder?

I understood it now when I readed the set of smogon...
Double powder means that you use in same set Stun spore/Sleep powder/Poison powder. Like if you had in same set Stun spore and sleep powder you would have double powder.

I know what it means, but what is the strategy?

Inflict status conditions. Sleep for all that havent got Imsomnia. Paralyze for Fast pokemon and Pokemon with Imsomnia.

Then you would only need one powder. Two powders seem to be just a waste. I think pick a status condition and work with it.

I like having two powders on a Pokemon because if the Ability is Insomnia or one that negates sleep, I will use Poison Powder.
Just my opinion on Double Powdering.

I misread that other post before mine. I now see the strategy there. My bad. No other questions for now. Please DON'T lock this yet. I may have other questions later.

Double Powder has another function too: There is 1 rule in Competitive Battle called Sleep Clause, which states that you cannot have more than 1 sleeping Pokemon in your team. So, with Double Powder you can sleep 1 opponent Pokemon and paralyze the rest of the team without breaking this clause.
