Hey,
I'm having some trouble catching Kyogre and Groudon on Emerald. They both keep using rest and regaining HP just as their on one point left. I tried paralyzing, but they can still go to sleep.

I just don't know what to do anymore.

Any ideas?

Keep Trying, or maybe try putting them to sleep instead of paralyzing. It may take several tries, but you'll get it eventually.

I've tried reducing their Rest PP using Spite or Encore, so at least you don't have to deal with Rest as many times.

This is a bit far-fetched, but you could try Skill Swapping Insomnia to them if you really want.

Get a pokemon that knows sleep, or false swipe or both

What I did was catch Rayquaza first then I taught it thunder bolt. After that I went to Kyogre and used Rayquaza and weakened it with thunderbolt which also may paralyze it so whenever it uses rest you can weaken it fast. Then I caught Groudon by fighting it with Kyogre.

I would suggest a Sleep-inducing move, then False Swipe.

I know that's been said before, but as long as they stay asleep, you can hit them until they have 1 HP left, then start tossing Balls. After all, you might be able to use your Master Ball.

Great! I used mine on Groudon...  :censored:

It's too bad I didn't think about the other Legendaries... but none of my Ultra Balls were working (in Ruby, for the record...)

I totally agree with the sleep Method......
I used my lv. 34 {vileplume} with quick claw and used SLEEP POWDER!! YAY!
I then confused it.
Everytime you battle Ledgendaries, save first.
Trust me. :frustrated:

That way if you mess up, you can try again. Trust me, it's saved my hide more than a few times.

Too bad I hadn't thought of that beforehand...

When I enter a legendary battle (just after I save the game, of course), I send out a Pokemon that knows an accuracy reducing move first and I give it a quick claw so it gets the first strike. I'm usually pretty lucky and the legendary's attack misses my Pokemon after the first accuracy reducing move hits. I kill its accuracy until it won't go any lower, then the legendary is forced into wasting tons of moves because the attacks seldom hit. If I have a Pokemon that knows imprison as well as a move the legendary knows, I send that Pokemon out next and use the imprison attack (this worked well with my Gardevoir agains Kyogre in Sapphire - it took away Kyorge's "calm mind" and forced it to use its high damaging moves first). If you can, just try to wait it out and let the Pokemon rest until that move is out of PP. Just lower its stats in the mean time and attempt to freeze, put to sleep, or paralyze it if you choose to do that.

Just be patient! I usually have to turn off my game a couple of times (and revert back to my save point before I fight the legendary) before I'm able to make a successful catch. If you keep at it, you'll get it eventually - even if it takes you over 50 ultra balls.

Otter speaks sense. I myself used {kyogre} against {groudon} ....

Useful :P

Well, when you talk about Kyogre going against Groudon...

Kyogre technically has a type advantage, so that will eventually work. But False Swipe only works it down to 1 HP, so that way you can start catching it. For example, a Sceptile would do wonders with a well-placed Leaf Blade and False Swipe on Kyogre or Groudon.

That's how I caught Kyogre anyway...

Yes....false swipe is a VERY good idea, especially against {groudon} . I'd say he is the hardest to catch.........

Post subject:  Re: Kyogre and Groudon trouble

With that I would agree of the two...

That's why I had to catch Groudon using my Master Ball, while I caught Kyogre with only an Ultra Ball.

But I didn't think about any other of the legendaries in RS either, so I sort of messed that up. Because I can't do the Emerald cloning trick and get the Master Balls to my actual games, I'm sort of done in that department.

     :o :o :o :o :o
you used your M.B. on {groudon} ?????!!!!!!!????????

<shock horror> I used mine on {rayquaza} then I used my brother as a slave to buy 999 U.B. (99 by 99 of course) and then I just caught them.
As for RS, yes I caught both with master balls.
One on each game.
