Perhaps if those links can tell us that Legendaries don't disappear until you recruit them a lot of people won't be asking this kind of questions anymore.

I defeated mew and it didnt join my team i had the friends bow equipped aswell do i have to start the dungeon again? |

Yes, unfortunately. Note that Mew has a really low recruitment percentage of 0.9%. Even with the Friend Bow and your lead Pokemon at level 100, the overall recruitment percentage is still a mere 34.9%. It might take several tries to recruit it. Good luck!
