Post subject:  Agility v.s. Thunder Wave on a special sweeper

pros:
thunderwave - cuts opponents speed and 25% full paralysis, also remains until opponent is knocked out
agility - raise speed by 2 levels and remains with user

cons:
thunderwave - needs to be used on each new opponent
agility - is removed when user switchs out, knocked out, or hazed / pseudo-hazed

which is perferable on a sweeper which can learn both (i.e. zapdos etc.)

If you're fighting opponents that are just going to switch, then T-wave might be better as it lasts. However, Agility lets Zapdos take out pokemon like Ice Punch Weavile that would otherwise come in on a revenge kill.

well it depends on the sweeper's speed, if its fast, give it thunder-wave, if its slow, give it agility

Agility is better because some pokemon might have abilities that prevent paralysis.

Then again thats only a few ( {persian} , {ditto} , etc)

Thunder Wave is better if they don't have Limber though

Well, Jolteon often has Agility because it can BP, as with Zapdos. (For some common movesets for Zapdos, look here).

If a sweeper is fast enough, though, Twave and Agility are often not used; instead, the sweeper would use an attack boosting move or item with a Spd boosting nature. For Zapdos, though, which does not have a good option for SpA boosting, it's best to go with Modest and focus on Spd.

i used zapdos as an example, i'm not trying to come up with a specific moveset for s specific pokemon
i was just wondering for those pokemon who learm both moves which i should use.
thanks 4 the input it makes alot of sense, slow poke use agility, faster use sgility
of course there r exceptions such as a bper
thanks for the replies
