Game Freak's Director Jurichi Masuda has announced on his blog that something different is going to happen if you play Pokemon d/p on January 12th (Saturday).

Oh man, I've GOT to play tomorrow! I can't wait...

I think he didn't tell us to make it more of a surprise, that way more people will play. Although I don't know if that was the best place to annouce it, I certainly have never heard of that site...

I hope it's some sort of event poke they'll give out somehow....

Yay, I typed that on my friends account!! I changed the DS clock, but nothing interesting happened... I think Game Freak would've made some sort of protection for that!!

Endless shinies would be my first guess, then an in-game Darkrai or Shaymin event... the possiblities are endless!! I can't wait!! I'm so glad I live in NZ - it's going to be the 12th earlier than for most other people :)

I know isnt that awesome i have no idea whats going to happen but i found it first on bulbapedia news page it had a link to his blog it doesnt seem to work if you change clock though

Hehehe, I told you on the phone that it was endless shinies!! You got a little too excited...

I've been searching Google, but so far I can't find any more info... I may be posting again soon after midnight though - it's 7pm for me!!

Edit: I just read on http://www.pokebeach.com that it may be different at Lake Valor (The one that gets bombed). I must add that this was someone's educated guess.

Pffffffft.
It's just hype to make people more enthusiastic about playing the game pointlessly, only to find out that there was nothing special at all and you wasted several hours of your life because of being deceived by an idiot.

Those of us with even an ounce of sense left in their bodies can see right through this stupid sham.
But if there is something different, it will most likely be spread over WIFI, and not coded into the game itself.
Hence, why I don't waste my life playing games in expectancy. I know other, more productive ways to eke away my life.

In conclusion: Nothing is going to happen, ever, as Nintendo are all just plain snobby that way, and you're foolish for buying into this.
For those who can't tell, I'm incredibly annoyed, as I am at every lie designed to take advantage of a fellow man.

But... it's on the Game Freak website!! And the 12th of January is Junichi (I think that's how you spell his name, it's different on different websites...) Masuda's birthday!!

I guess only time will tell. *Sits on floor to wait patiently for 3 and a half hours...*

Edit: I've been playing for a while... I've tried the door of the old in, I lost the lottery, I went to Lake Valor, I tried to go into the Valor Lakefront cafe, but it was closed, I visited the ingame Game Freak director... NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET!! I'm sorry I ever doubted you DNA (For the moment... but I'll keep playing) Anyone in NZ got wi-fi? That'd be something worth trying...

Well if it is something that doesn't happen in the game itself, then it would have to be Wi-Fi, which works on the time of the world and not the game. Hehe... me got Wi-Fi.... So I could see if anything happens....

And Mudget, you did set the game a day behind before the 12th right? When it comes to most of the stuff that happens in the game, it must have 24 hours to set itself to work on things that happen to the date.

Did you ever think that it's probably Japan time only? If it's the "hidden" Pokeapps, this is going to be a real disappointment. Those apps SUCK. Right now it's 10:37pm on Friday in Japan. Also,

IMO this is definitely true. Companies and ads may want and try to deceive people to increase profits and to gain attention, but they can't lie completely. They just make a big issue out of nothing. So, i think that this will probably be just a minor thing in the game or something not-as-fascinating as they make it sound...

This is just a guessing game. You would think the blog mentions anything about what version of the game (Japan, U.S., etc.) he is talking about and specifically where this "little suprise" is.

If you have any proof of how January 12th will be different than any other day of the year in the game, I'd definitely like to see it.
