Okay, so sometimes when I will start up emerald it will work great.. Then sometimes after it shows the "Nintendo" and does that interesting sound it looks as if the screen shuts off, but the power and everything is on. Along with occasionally turning completely white, and me having to take it out and put it back in.. Sometimes even doing that doesn't resolve it. What could this be caused from?

I should note that this has just recently started to happen. Before it never did this. I used a cheating device on it a longtime ago, but restarted 2 seperate times... I did use the cheating device again during those 2 times but then restarted again (In which I haven't used a cheating device since those other times.).. And now I'm starting to have problems , I don't think that it is the cause of the AR because it just started happening...

I really don't want to have to buy another one...

Potential problems I know of:
1) The AR use has accumulated and broken the game; Restarting doesn't always fix the problems.
2) Is it a real copy of the game? IE, is the cartridge green in color?
3) It might also be a problem with your SP/DS/GBA.
I've never had anything like this happen with my Emerald Cartridge, so I'm not really sure what's up, but those seem like the likely possibilities.

The problems just started happening lately... I used the AR replay like 4 months ago and nothing's happened... Until now.... Yes, it's an authentic Pokemon Emerald, it has the patents and everything.. Green in color too.
I didn't know the GBA can cause problems... Is there a thread or something that lists these problems?

I should also note, that my brother's Sapphire does the white screen thing from time to time... He's used an AR ton's of times... I mixed records with it before... Do you think that doing that might've done something?

It's probably due to the GBA/DS.

I've had the exact same thing happen to my SP, where the screen was white and everything else works normally. I tried everything from soft resetting it to putting it in the grill and everything in between and it never worked again. I'm afraid you may have to simply break down and buy yourself a new GBA/DS.

Yeah the Ar can really mess up your system. it messed up my sapphire and it did the same exact thing that is happening to you. My advice, just get a new one.

Sometimes that happens to me, but that happens with every one of my games, so it could be that the GBA is messed up.

I just used it like 3 times... And it was for something extremely minor... The problem like just started showing up after using the AR a couple of months ago, so I would assume that it is not related.... I did mix records with a sapphire that has been used with an AR tons of times...

I made the vow to myself to never use a cheating device again after it raped and murdered my Firered.... And haven't used one since then...

It could be the GBA... I was thinking of just getting a DS and everything and just to use the GBA for trading and stuff.

Does anyone think that it could be dust causing the problem too? When I blow into the game, it seems to clear up the problem... And it doesn't show that blank white screen part....

Dust accumulating in the game pak or gameboy could be the problem.

I always had this problem with my GBC and its games, but I made sure to blow into both the gameboy and the game I was about to play and it always worked.

I don't have this problem with my GBA as I always have a game pak loaded in it and I keep the not-in-use game paks in the plastics that they came in (dust won't get in there).

I started to do this, blowing into the Emerald and it works... But it's weird, because not once did I have to do it for my Firered! Which I've had for 2 years! I just got my emerald a few months ago, too... Is there anyway to clean the dust out? (If that is the problem?)

Either keep the thing somewhere where dust can't get into the game (like a small plastic bag) or you'll just have to blow into everytime before you play.

Good Suggestion. I've been thinking about putting it in the little plastic sliver it came in after I get done playing it.

I think that my question has been pretty much answered.
