Post subject:  Everstone BUG?

Ok, I'm getting mad...
It just seems wrong, but still...

Ok, the situation is simple:
I breeded jolly gibles, about 30, with the everstone trick, and about half of them were jolly... all right...
I tried the same with adamant gibles, got a female+everstone... breeded MANY DOZENS of them... and it just did not work. AT ALL. I got the same nature ratio as I did not use the everstone at all :?
I browsed through the net, and found similar references, but no real explaination to this strange phaenomena.

Got any tip?

Are you sure you had the Everstone attached to the female?

On some occasions I have not gotten 50% of the pkmn as the preferred nature: only 1/5 had the nature. I think that's just chance though.

Obviously... I'm not so noob :P

Tried with ditto too... same story :?

just because something says there's a 50% chance of something happening doesn't mean it will happen half the time in every single case. I bred around fifty Mareep once (don't ask) with the Quiet mother holding an Everstone, and around six of them were Quiet. So, just because there's a 50% chance it will inherit the mother's nature doesn't mean fifty out of 100 Mareep will have a Quiet nature.

you have to attach the everstone to the ditto, and the ditto must be adament

^No, it doesn't have to be Ditto. It can be the mother too.

To the original poster, I know what you're talking about. I had a female, Mild Mismagius, attached and everstone to it, and I went through about 8 batches of eggs before FINALLY finding a Mild one.

FaceLess explained it to me once, but I didn't really see what I was doing wrong. Somebody know?

It's weird. Doesnt work for me either. If I'm breeding old Pokes then I use the old versions where this still works and then Pal Park them.

I had this problem while breeding Jolly Kabuto/Ditto. It was working just fine before, while I was getting some Shuppets, but then I was getting a bunch of Mild and Gentle and... you get the idea. Not one Jolly in the bunch, aside from the parents.

I didn't think much of it, although I wondered if there was something wrong in putting the Everstone on both Pokemon to guarantee I hadn't screwed things up. Otherwise, I've shrugged it off to the random number gods not liking me that day.

I perfectly know the laws of probability (well, I'm not sure about this english name, but you get the picture).
Each random event is independend from another, so it's perfectly possible to get 20 tails on 20 coin tosses. A bit unlikely, but still possible.
Just as unlikely as 0/1 **** adamant gibles out of three dozens of eggs, wich fits a lot more the random 1/25 "no everstone factor" than the 1/2 "everston attached factor" (and just to be clear, the everstone WAS ATTACHED TO THE FEMALE, I'm not repeating this anymore  )
I don't imply I'm absolutely right, it would be stupid... I'm just discussing a very likely and possible problem I experienced. And it seems I'm not the only one....

I think that it is a 50% increase on that nature.
So, the chance of getting a certain nature is 1/25. the everstone increases it to (100%+50%)1/25 or 1.5/25. this means about three or four out of fifty will get the nature.
There's no way in could be that hard at 50% chance

^Then how come when I was breeding off Tauros's, I bred Tauros with an Adamant Ditto holding the Everstone, and literally about half were Adamant?

Post subject:

Well...
I don't breed with everstones, so I literally have no idea.
Maybe it is a bug; or maybe it doesn't work with a female and a ditto (all tauros's are male)

EDIT:oh, and this is post #100!

It worked when I was breeding off Burmy's (female + Modest Ditto with Everstone) though. It just randomly didn't work when I tried it on my (female) Mismagius.

well, maybe it's just odds. I haven't taken statistics yet, but I know the odds are almost always against me...

I had the same problem getting a Relaxed Eevee.....

There's just another variable in the pattern that isn't getting factored in when we get this "bug." I think FaceLess said it only works on certain pokemon... that's all I remember though...

The everstone thing is a bug in itself. So you can't really have a bug in a bug.

Thats a lot of loud pokemon  sorry that was really stupid but i had to stab that lol.

I have had the smae prob man, it happens to everyone as stated it is 50 % that doesnt mean you will get it. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesnt. I hat hatching pokemon  i have like 40 dratinis and only 1 got the right nature, but i also got a shiny with huge IVs and a crap nature so i raised it. now i dont like dragonite < _ Just my opinion not dissing dragonite

Mine was the opposite. Breeding Calm Phiones, I assumed I'd get half to be Calm with a Ditto holding an Everstone with my Manaphy.... I got 15/15 Calm Phiones. Had to release a bunch of them :?

Killer's suggestion sounds reasonable in this case though. But then, so does Taser's almost-theory of it depending on the specific species of Pokemon being bred....

I posted a question here about it once. FaceLess said it only works on pokemon directly from a D/P game, or something... though technically, that wouldn't explain things since obviously, my Mismagius HAD to have come from Pearl... :\

I doubt it...I bred 5 Beldums from a lv100 Metagross from Ruby...I got 3 Adamant.

Not sure then... I mean, I'd also like to know why I NEVER get the exact number of "steps to hatch" on eggs, while everyone else seems to, but that's for another topic. -_-

*Goes back to trying to get Calm Mantines with Water Absorb... AGAIN*

It's never the exact number with me either...
